I did the same thing, but with a whistle. I also have a whistle to find the GF, it is like echo detection and means that I can find her in the supermarket without sounding like a yob.
When I move the boat I load the cat up, shut the flap and move. Then release her when I get to the destination. She did jump the wrong way a couple of times but has since learned.

A big alternator and box of magic that gives 240v independent of revs. Turn on the engine and run the washing machine with no probs. You would not want it, it makes life far to simple
My shurflo pump has developed a leak, at 6 or 7 years old it is not worth faffing around with trying to fix it. My currently have a shurflo aqua king like this one Clicky
Is the jabsco one comparable/better or worse as it is a bit cheaper and it does not need an accumulator. clicky
I dont know why it is cheaper, is it less good?
Tim
Sorry Tony I have confused you. I have two alternators, one small one for the starter battery and one large one for the alternator.
The small one has a v belt. The large travel power has a poly v belt (5PK 1040). What I dont want to happen is for the v belt to fail, get caught in the new poly v belt and right that off as well. Last time the poly v went it made one hell of a mess.
Tim
The belt has been there since I bought the boat, at least 3.5 years. I also have a travel power unit, and I need to replace the belt on that as I can see that it is wearing out. I thought it would be a good oportunity to replace both at the same time especially as the travel power uses a poly v belt costing £10+
Tim
I have to replace the v belt going to the alternator. I have in my box of bits some cogged v belts which look like the top left. But currently I have a belt like the bottom left.
What is the difference?
Congratulations. I checked out your blog and the boat looks very nice. It even seems that you ahve a positive experiance with the Marina.
I hope you sort the issues with your wife.
Tim
Good advice from both above.
I applied the sealant to the collar in rings. My thinking was that the expansion and contraction would have less effect on 3 or 4 rings of sealant rather than one thick one.
Tim
Great, thanks. That was what I was thinking. It seems that you can buy them second had from Fleabay for a couple of hundred.
I think that I shall disconnect the pipes for now but otherwise leave it in place.

I have a mikuni mx60 which at the moment does not get used because tbh the fire is much better. I also have a coolant leak that I cannot quite find and removing the mikuni would make it less complicated. Because I added in the backboiler, I nicked the rads from the diesel heater. This reduces the value of the mikuni as it only heats the calorifier and rad in the bathroom.
Heating water is covered by a gas heater.
Does having a mikuni add any value to the boat? My options are;
1. Remove disconnect it from the coolant system and leave
2. Remove and sell on Ebay
3. Your other suggestions
I dont know the area in question but if I did and was bothered then I would do an FOI asking for;
The number of overstaying notices in that area
The number of convictions ...
The number of complaints ...
The number of winter moorings for each month.
Then as a starting point you could see whether BW considers it to be a problem. Asking for agregating information removes the data protection
