  1. The Royal Navy Frigate HMS Troutbridge along with the Potarneyland Navy frigate, the Poppadom are on patrol outside the harbour. Under orders of Vice-Admiral "Burbly" Burwasher to in force the injunction and sink the vessel should it attempt to leave the harbour using the new in proved humgrummit Vindaloo shells. 4. Flood damage could be just burst water pipes. Quite likely after last winter. I would steer clear of any boat that has sunk as it would need a great deal of work, If it was just the pipes and it fixed quickly and dry out as well Ebay prices tend to be inflated when it comes to boats(They do have fees to pay). Your best bet is to visit some of your local boat yards and marinas. As often you spot boats that are up for sale, that are not listed with a broker. There are about 23 narrowboats up for sale in my marina from 9K upward to 100k. You just missed the springer. A good boat goes quick. This also has the vantage that you can look the boat over before contacting the seller. 5. Get your savings up to about 10K, You be able to get yourself a nice little springer, A 28ft one sold here for 9K last week, It was in good condition. This time of year is the best time to buy, Prices tend to be higher in the spring with people looking for a boat for the summer. 8. Returning from Haggles-Land, had lunch on the train. The 1st class dining is not what it used to be, Bring back GNER. As for wild food, In student days at UMIST. Being on the boat, Fresh duck was on the menu along with rabbit, and wild game. Wild veg and herbs could be found on the bank. Far better than the stable diet of my fellow undergrads of 'Beans on Toast'. It does help if you grew up in the countryside. You known what to look for. This does depends on there being a milk round in your area, Since moving up to the Fens from the Wey, I not seen any milkman at all in nine years. 16. Here in the Fens, we were frozen in from late November through to mid March. The ice at one point was over 9 inches thick with the lowest overnight temperature of -17 degrees recorded which when combined with wind, we had a wind chill of below -25 degrees. In mid December we had only one outside tap working on my side of the marina, To fill the tanks we were joining half a dozen hoses together. Boats with diesel heating had real problems with waxing, Even people with stoves had trouble with coal running out. I am taking no chances this year and stocked up over the summer. One good thing that come out of last winter was that Foxes have at last put heating in the shower block (Been waiting since the 1980's). With the new pumping station, we did not have the flooding of the year before. Firesprite In front of a warm fire
