  1. Also, some marinas don’t need you to have a crt licence, but you you wouldn’t be able to move to where you would need one, to do the work, without the licence.

  3. One other thing I just remembered. Lots of “proper” marinas don’t like you doing lots of rebuilding work onsite, so worth checking if it’s a serious refit you would be looking at.
  4. Preston Marina might be an option. No licence needed if you don’t want to travel anywhere, I think. It depends if you are looking for somewhere to stay or you would like to move around a bit.

  8. It is hard to see how you feel good posting these videos that don’t depict you in a great light. It might be misinterpreting what’s happening but it doesn’t look great.
  9. Ours are just spring loaded bolts. If someone already got inside to be able to open the combination locks then they have already got in?

  15. Ours is just secured from inside with spring loaded bolts, no lock. There is one on the inside at the bottom of the left hand door to stop it from opening. Then 2 bolts securing the 2 doors. Finally a 4th bolt at the top of the left door that holds the hatch in place.
  16. As well as saying a licence can be arranged for your boat and emailed to you, it might have been useful to say how to go about doing that.
  17. https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/media-centre/news/view.app?id=1369783539618 Liveaboards need a licence if watching or streaming live tv or watching bbc iPlayer. It says they can email you a licence for your boat.

  20. Yes, it’s tricky hanging upside down at odd angles, trying to remember which way it is to tighten or loosen a bolt and not drop tiny parts into the engine bay.
  21. I know. I got on the last one they did. It’s a pity. It gave me lots of information and I was able to do my own basic service off the back of it.
  22. Mine worked fine second attempt. CAVs before the electric drift pump were bled before attempting to start. First start was fine for a few seconds then died. Second was fine. I was just wondering if you didn’t bled it at the in-line fuel filter you might have more air and a bigger difficulty. That’s why I asked about the difference between self bleeding and priming. By the way, the guide you wrote for the rcr course is pretty awesome.

  24. A new edition of Boaters' Updatehas been just been published containing all the latest updates on how coronavirus is affecting your boating and use of the towpath. If you are not currently occupying your boat the government guidance is that you must not visit (this means no short trips or breaks on your boat at this time). With Government expected to extend the lockdown period later today, we are extending our suspension of the normal movement requirement to 18 April. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT OR MOVE BOATS OVER THE EASTER PERIOD Please follow the government advice – stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives.
  25. I’m a maintenance novice. I did the last RCR engine maintenance course in January and serviced my boat just before the lockdown. We have an electric pump and no mechanical lift pump. I still had to “bleed” the filters after replacing them. The first start died after a brief time but the second was fine. Is there a distinction between priming and bleeding here?
