  1. The flanges can be bought cheaply. Unless treated they will rust. I've got a couple of towel rails on this style with these flanges and they have rusted. I can't decide whether to treat them or live with the rusted look. Would rust more badly in a shower setting.
  2. It doesn't answer your question but I have one of these which works well. usb rechargeable. Sealey LED180 12 SMD LED + 1W LED Rechargeable Slim Inspection Lamp Lithium-ion https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075B6N4C5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_i_YH92A94XV4VT2CT0Q48E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

  8. Ok. Disconcerting might have been a bit strong. It just seemed a bit unusual that 3 boats went past, all with their own names and individual identities, but all with the same stamp at the front. Whenever I buy a car it has the brokers window transfer on the back window, partly cking the rear view. The first thing I do is remove it. It's my car, not an advertisement.
  9. I'm not sure why you think I want your help, and I certainly don't need your apparent need to conflate my mild unease with boat signage with the atrocities happening in the Ukraine. I do admit you are probably right that the signs say It's a Bickerstaffe. I was sat in the scratch having a brew at the time and didnt read it perfectly.
  10. 3 boats went past today. All very glossy looking and with that odd shaped bow. They all had signwrighting on the bow saying "I'm a Bickerstaffe". A bit like having a ghia sticker on a slightly posher Ford. Not sure why I'm feeling the need to mention this but it just seemed a bit disconcerting.
  11. Accommodation might be a bit pricey unless camping.
  12. No. I was referring to point 5 in schedule 2 at the end of the document. Fee Discounts 5. Subject to Condition 6 in this schedule, the following discounts may be applied to Your Licence Fee: Description and conditions Disconnected Waterways 25% discount if the Boat has a long term mooring, and will remain exclusively on one of the following Waterways: Bridgwater & Taunton; Monmouth & Brecon; stretches of the Montgomery Canal not connected to the main network; River Tees
  13. The fact that the discounted licence fee only applies to boats with a home mooring seems to imply that continuous cruising isn't regarded as a viable option on this canal, without explicitly stating it.
  14. Section 5 under schedule 2 here https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/refresh/media/original/43943-general-terms-and-conditions-for-boat-licenses-june-2021-searchable-file.pdf
  15. I think boats with a home mooring get a discounted licence fee on disconnected canals.
  16. @LadyG it's been a long and winding thread. I'm interested in what craftinsure are paying for and why. Just interested in what they might be prepared to pay for. I'm guessing it is damage to your rudder when cruising but don't want to assume anything.
  17. There you go. The curtain wafting around the hob is no more.
  18. I will get a photo next time. It's a nice kettle.
  19. A lot of people don't have £5,000 to pay upfront and be repaid afterwards. That's one way of clearing the system.
  20. I know. I have some photos of the boat but didnt think the kettle was important. I don't live aboard but will try to remember to get a picture. Not sure how helpful it will be, when I searched online, nothing like ours came up.
  21. We have a very nice whistling copper kettle the previous owners kindly agreed we could keep when we bought the boat. So that's probably the most expensive (or cheapest) kettle ever. I have had a look online to see if there's anything similar I could point the OP to, but cant see anything that looks the same.
  22. That's the Today programme on BBC radio 4.

  24. A 800w induction hob will be slow. Also, if restricted to using a single hob you will be mostly having one pot meals.
