Above his pay grade. Mine too. Maybe he could get a pv system installed. </pedant> Did you have to chuck them in the water? I'm quite sure towpath users will be grateful but you could be setting a precedent.

Almost certainly going to appear too costly for most - but once you start to factor in the cost of running the engine enough to keep your lead-acid battery bank in good condition the picture begins to change. -
And if you site the resistor sensibly you might get to use the 'waste' heat. ETA If you're not already running the engine it could be in the cauliflower.

The issue you would face is power dissipation: P=I^2/R. What kind of resistance value do you have in mind? For 750W you'd be looking at just 0.3 ohms

Here in eastern West Yorkshire it was much windier at 4am and 10am than it is now. It wasn't raining though.

At busy times you may have a wait, often just turn up and no wait at all. It used to be possible to do Watford and Foxton on the same day but shortened opening hours have put paid to that. -
One might enquire how long you have been retired... £30k isn't very much unless the employee in question has few significant outgoings.

The only year that I can think of that came close to being as dry as 1976 was 2018... It was wonderful - the only two years when I haven't been a martyr to hayfever. -
Morrisons have gone from offering "Buy 4 for £6" to buy 4 get the cheapest free. Suddenly it becomes important to get your Landlord and Black Sheep together rather than mixing them up with Wold Top Orange Porter and Withens Pale. But family members who know about these things tell me promotions are generally paid for by the supplier rather than the retailer. BrewDog probably declined to continue taking a hit on their profits.

You would be well advised to read the thread mentioned above. Then at least you will have some understanding of the reasons the electricians you've spoken to are not going to risk trashing their reputations.

Completely unnecessary. But then, a large proportion of MPs are or have been lawyers and this kind of thing keeps their friends and former colleagues in employment. -

They probably see it as "win-win". They get the money from the sale and no longer have to maintain the properties. Looked at from an accountant's perspective they're not wrong. However, I have heard accountants described as people who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
