  7. I have used VARiHOST for a few years now they host Alacrity's blog and another site for me. Varihost has the best customer service I have found anywhere. I emailed a question to Richard at Varihost one Sunday night at about 9 pm and had an answer by 10 pm. It's worth sending Richard an email. John

  13. Phew he was lucky , All my battery connections have plastic covers and the spanner I use is covered in insulating tape. I remove my wedding ring and watch before working on the batteries, seen to many pictures of burnt wrists and fingers from my time with the REME.

  15. Hi All, Please can anyone tell me the best way to seal the cast chimney plate on my roof. The last time I did it I used a polyurethane type sealant this was about two years ago and now its started to leak any help would be most apreciated. John
  16. I have been thinking of refitting Alacritys saloon. Changing from fixed furniture to free standing and also doing the floor with solid hardwood or an engineered board with a 5mm veneer. My problem is which to use the solid or the engineered, as we don't liveaboard would the swing in humidity levels and temperature warp solid boards?? or make the engineered boards delaminate. John
  17. Hi MEP, Your engine is a Volvo Penta 2001 the single cylinder version, I have a VP 2003 (3 Cylinder) I have allways used Keypart in Watford for spares. And as mentioned before DB Marine of Cookham who are first class. John
  18. To monitor your useage of the net try Netmeter it runs in the background and you can set your limit and it will warn you when you get near it. It will also show daily useage and its free!!!! Iv'e tried it on my home pc and you use less than you think John

Great info Yoda I'm just on the point of buying mobile broadband and so far T mobile is ahead because they don't immediatly charge if you go over the 3 gig download they send a slap on the wrist first. I think Orange has the best coverage on the canal system but have heavy over use charges. choices choices John

  22. R S Components do a suitable 12 volt dc valve. I have used many of these and never had a problem. 12 volt dc valve They work out at £10.39 each plus VAT John
  23. Evidently Webasto will not entertain any new warrenty claims on Thermo Top C heaters. Could this be because they are trying to flog a rebadged version the Thermo52 which is a Thermo Top C on a stainless mounting plate and new wiring connector. Am I being too cynical??? John I should have mentioned That the warrenty issue is to do with Automotive heaters ie Thermo Top C fitted in a marine environment. John
