I imagine the batteries took a hammering over the bank holiday weekend, was there this morning at 8.30 fortunately the Slipway pub has a slipway ? which made it fairly easy to turn my 47ft boat around. Locals did tell me the new licencee has smartened the pub up.
  2. Stanley Dock also have moorings https://stanleydock.com/marina without the winter movement restrictions of Salthouse I imagine. However again probably not cheap but only a 5/10min bike ride into the city centre.
  3. Certainly doesn't look like its had £1000 spent on it. No sign of any fire extinguishers which is a BSC fail for starters.
  4. This is the agreement I've previously seen http://www.bridgewatercanal.co.uk/news/crtrecipricolagreement perhaps it was reviewed and is no longer in force?
  5. I thought you needed one if returning on the Bridgewater within 28 days but have just looked at their site and I can no longer find any mention of it.
  6. Nobody is right in every case except SWMBO.
  7. If you haven't already I'd suggest you look at the youtube video blogs Journey with Jono and Cruising the Cut the former bought a sailaway a just over a year ago and gives a good idea of what's involved in bringing it up to scratch whereas the latter starts with looking to buy a used boat, purchasing it and gradually making alteration to suit his needs.
  8. I'm also planning to complete the Cheshire Ring sometime this year. Question is travelling from Burscough should I buy a 7 day licence for the Bridgewater?
  9. Old Dock tour is indeed very interesting http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/visit/old_dock_tours.aspx and free!!
  10. Probably a bit more traffic when we visit in August
  11. Thanks for that, I know the docks fairly well but couldn't see anything in the CRT literature about moving further through the system.
  12. I've just booked passage through the Liverpool Link to moor at the Salthouse Dock for 7 days this summer. Whilst there is it possible to do a short sightseeing trip through to Brunswick Dock and back or does the boat have to remain static at its mooring until the day of departure?
  13. Having read Seadogs post #14 I update my chargers software and now the Bluetooth connection works fine. Hurrah.
  14. I have their Bluepower ip65 charger and the Bluetooth connection had worked intermittently when I first got it but now seems to have given up the ghost completely. Tried connecting it to phone and tablet with no success. Most probably a software or compatablility problem but I suppose it could be a dodgy charger.
  15. I was looking at this http://www.rivercanalrescue.co.uk/other-services/engine-inspections/ but the maintenance course seems more practical. Thanks for the quick responses.....now where's my chequebook
  16. I'm thinking of booking the River Canal Rescue engine inspection and service. Anyone here booked it in the past and is it worth £190? In future I'd like to do things such as oil and filter changes myself but I'd like to watch someone who knows what they're doing do it first!
  17. Don't shoot them as you may find yourself up before the beak.
  18. I doubt you can get better insulation than a 8 foot thick brick wall!
  19. The boat looked great but the converted horse box in the same programme looked like a death trap, inadequate ventilation and a stove far to big for the space.
  20. Thanks for the replies. Just thought I'd get one as backup during my winter jaunts.
  21. Would this jumpstart my 32hp Nanni Kubota diesel? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Starters-RAVPower-Emergency-Charging-Flashlight/dp/B075ZM5K3Y/ref=gbps_tit_m-5_1a75_e4e4ddc4?smid=A296JJ7EW4ORVE&pf_rd_p=2d281ba4-72d6-4610-97a1-ff6f4c7d1a75&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=118857031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=SH7X1CJAGQ08C54ZDMTR
  22. Still on the cards http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/bootle-could-transformed-100m-masterplan-14080953
  23. Fits with the name of the boat and the fact that it's moored not far from the Jaguar plant.
  24. Looks like it was previously known as Tranquillity https://canalplan.org.uk/boat/15618
