  1. Yes some of you were incredibly slow to accept Onionbargee had done nothing wrong
  2. Dispute not with her for she is lunatic. Shakespeare.
  3. You make the mistake of thinking that because you haven't heard from CRT so far,you will never hear from them. The rules of the game are open to misinterpretation and change so following what you believe to be correct practise may not suffice.I also have not heard from CRT.Whats the old saying? Ignorance is bliss
  4. I suspect there is more of a problem with interpretation of the Framework than the Framework itself and that misinterpretation is on both sides of the argument. As regards money to park her van, what validity has that to any points raised?
  5. The issue of whats legally required is one thing and the CRT recommendation another, the real concern is where this is all leading, this fear of ethnic cleansing of boaters without a home mooring. The fear of the moving goalpost.
  6. Where did you hear that will change sir and what will actually change? The duration or the sites? i.e. reverting back to roving permits

  10. Come on now, don't be vague, out with it man!
  11. Arthur,John Lewis do a great DAB radio,it is made by Pure. It comes with a power pack which costs extra, this goes where the batteries should go and constantly charges the radio whenever the radio is plugged in even with the radio switched off.Plug it in when your cruising or your engines running,it just seems to run forever on the smallest of charges.Downside for radio and pack is the cost £100. You can buy the radio without the power pack which is £60.If your interested I will look out my old box for the model number. Its a great bit of kit, powerpack is ideal for boats.
  12. Your points are already answered by the good ship Jenlyn. Grant Shapps was the minister in question.
  13. I suspect most of these boat sales fall into two groups, people releasing pensions and couples getting their foot on the property ladder.Last week I met a Bulgarian Accountant with his Polish Girlfriend, I mention their race only as a way of stating how it now cuts across nationalities as much as age groups, something unheard of a few years back. This couple had bought the boat from Stowe Hill, he said and were making some changes to the interior and moving aboard permanently,he had finished his degree at Cardiff University moved to Milton Keynes, hired a boat on the Broads and after realising he was being exploited by a Private Landlord here he was.
  14. There is a lot of Continuous Cruisers who live aboard, work in low paid jobs and can't afford a mooring who are moving every 14 days and covering the CRT recommendation of a minimum of twenty miles in a license period. The boaters that really annoy me are the ones that say "Get a mooring"or "Get a house"absolutely pointless observations, especially in the South East.Canals aren't housing estates some will say, well to some users they are. It was government policy to get more people living afloat a few years back, isn't it now perhaps the case that CRT are now a Landlord as much as a Navigation Authority.
  15. Its not unpopular with me and no doubt like yourself I struggle to understand posts like the one I was replying to.
  16. What have I said that you don't agree with? As regards an EO and his authority, that depends what you mean by authority and of course the context in which the EO is acting.I note in your post above you say you don't have to provide evidence but in a previous post you say it is courteous to do so.Which course of action do you recommend?
  17. I think we are getting a bit pedantic about this right to overstay.Permission is not needed for an overstay only a valid reason. Its only by furnishing CRT with that valid reason that makes the overstay permissible.
  18. I have been nearly 35 years as a live aboard and always kept a dog aboard as many of us do,I must say however that the public seem to be becoming less tolerant regarding dogs especially ones not on leads. The lycra clad nazis are the worst especially those aboard expensive mountain bikes, all winter I watched them turn the towpath into a quagmire racing up and down six and seven at a time with no regard to anyone, they scare me as well as the dog as they come from nowhere even in the dark. The law sadly is on their side and forget any support from CRT,in Milton Keynes you can destroy the towpath by either digging it up as at Giffard Park or by mountain bike in the middle of winter and nothing happens to the perpetrators.Part of this culture where you apparently can have rights but no responsibility.
  19. A girlfriend?with a hundred bags of dog poo on your roof?now you tell me after I've wasted years on Plenty of Fish lol
  20. The space problem is made worse by groups of Boats moving in unison, there is one guy down here on the GU South with a wide beam he bought as a sail away three years ago, still not finished and to make matters worse he has added three other project boats to his fleet. You have to smile.
  21. I believe Black Prince pulled out of Paddington this year citing commercial reasons
