  1. Our accounts have not been posted for some time as sadly Ange left our team. I believe we have found someone to fulfill her role so I'm sure this is something that we can do. While I can't give exact figures at this point (sorry!) I see what we pay for hosting & software licencing vs. what we receive from those kind enough to donate. While I'm no accountant, I can tell we have a shortfall although in any case, we won't be going anywhere. I will speak to Daniel about perhaps posting our accounts as it's good to be transparent about this as a non-profit entity. Perhaps you're right in that we are too low key on this front. Thank you, will take a look Cheers also
  2. That makes sense, thanks Rob.
  3. Thanks guys. I'm probably going to go for faux leather as it's easier to clean, less absorbent and harder wearing etc etc. Did you simply send off the measurements?
  4. I have a Jabsco and a Whale pump. (one for cold water, the other for hot water) The Whale pump is a lot quieter despite being 5 PSI greater. (30 PSI vs 25 PSI) The pressure difference is also noticeable. I had a 30 PSI Shurflo pump before and it failed in the same way. I heard nothing but bad things about them when I was looking to replace it before I got the Whale pump.
  5. I have a Pullman's dinette and in the next year or so the upholstery will need replacing. What's the best way to go about this and how much can I expect to pay? Cheers RichM
  6. Thanks both. I want to look into this a little more. Would you mind dropping me a link to the forums in question so I can run it by Daniel? One problem we have is that it seems whatever we do we end up with some kind of outcry but on the other hand it costs a fair amount of money to run this forum! We're not running some cheapo freebie forum like some other forums.
  7. I too depend on 4G/LTE via MiFI and don't bother with Marina WiFI as WiFI Spark have capped download speeds to 1Mbps at my nearby marina. I'm sure it was great in 2008! Anyway, without meaning to digress; My recommendation would be to have 2 sims, one on EE and one on Three. I primarily use EE as their network is superior imo but a few times they've had problems with their masts or I've run out of data, necessitating the need to switch-over to Three. Of course, I am assuming your MiFI device isn't locked to one carrier. Sure, it will cost more but in my case I need to be able to get on the interwebs otherwise we will have a bit of a problem if the site goes down! RichM
  8. Thanks for the suggestion. The forum software we use has built in functionality to use Viglink so we will take a look. We will more than likely need to do something as we have a shortfall in funding at the moment as we're funded almost entirely on donations from users.
  9. Info from the designer is a bit vague but this is as much as I know: "- April 12, 2017: Upgraded with numerous bug fixes, and a solution to an issue where the colour scheme was lost when modal boxes or ajax requests were made- March 16, 2017: Fixed the background picker icon on mobiles- March 8, 2017: Minor bug fixes" RichM
  10. I have just updated the main default theme on Canal World. This may have reset any custom colours you may have set. Sorry! You may change them back to your personal preference by clicking the paint brush at the top-left however. Any problems, do let us know. RichM
  11. Ok I now see the problem but only in IE. It does not appear to happen on Chrome or Firefox. I have just applied a skin update which I shouldn't really be doing at this time at night. It fixed a bunch of niggles but it didn't fix the issue you report. I will report it to the people who designed the skin.
  12. That's odd. Not happening for me though. How long has it been doing this? I can't say if it's happening to anyone else but if it was I'm pretty sure we'd have a lot of complaints! Does it also happen when using Chrome? If not then I'd recommend clearing your browser cache in IE if you have not already done so.
  13. I'm not seeing it. What is your screen resolution? Is it possible to take a screenshot? Mine is 1920x1080 on a 15" laptop for reference. P.S. Nice garden
  14. Thanks, the mods took care of it.
  15. I don't see any large blank spaces except where the user has put a lot of paragraphs, i.e.: <p> its a work of art </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> <a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileid="11463" href="//cwdf.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/cwdf/content/monthly_2017_07/IMG_0168.JPG.50a8b7578bc48a933c9115034ce8aa55.JPG" rel=""> Is that what you refer to?
  16. That's a shame. Even if they charged $39.99 I'm sure it would still be a big deal for many, let alone $399. Crazy! Just as well we increased the total attachment limit per user from 100MB to 200MB and can increase this further if necessary.
  17. It might sound cliche but mross' suggestion is what I'd recommend. It is an odd one though and unfortunately it's very difficult to fix something I can't see or replicate. Not had this issue myself.
  18. Both of these require skin design changes. I will feedback to IPS Focus who designed the skin. As for "Mark site read" functionality, one workaround to add a link to the top is to bookmark the link. To do this, right click on "Mark side read" at the bottom and then click "Copy link address". Then create a new browser bookmark using the link that you have just copied. The process may differ slightly depending on what browser you're using, but I tested it on Chrome and it seems to work.
  19. So after a long day at work I come here to read a bunch of posts about TB... I am quite willing to make improvements for your benefit wherever I can but please keep it relevant and constructive. Thanks. Maybe a FAQ would be a good idea.
  20. Sorry but it's definitely not showing at the bottom of topics for me. It is only visible on the main homepage and at the very bottom of VNC. The idea is to allow people to engage in the chat while viewing new content at the same time. When we can launch the new chat system I will get rid of the Chatbox altogether. I will speak to Daniel and see if we can prioritise the new chat over other projects. RichM
  21. I have removed it from displaying at the bottom of topics. The Chatbox is only temporary and will be replaced soon. Cheers RichM
  22. Sorry, what I meant to say was that I don't want to dwell too much on the reasons for upgrading the forum software as it was felt that it would have been unreasonable for us not to and in any case, reverting back is not feasible. We are still keen to make improvements based on user feedback but going backwards isn't a realistic option. The forum software is not in beta, no. The developers of the forum are in the process of developing IPBoard 4.2 which has some minor functionality and feature improvements without any major design changes. As for the look and feel of the forum, it was designed by IPSFocus and it's likely we will provide feedback to them based on the feedback we receive.
  23. I believe lulu fish fish was referring to SSL certificates, or the lack of in our case. This is when you see a padlock to confirm that the connection is encrypted over HTTPS. This is a necessity for pages which take sensitive details such as billing addresses and credit cards. We don't handle any of that as all transactions go through a payment gateway, i.e. PayPal. That said, it is now considered best practice to use HTTPS and as such we will be installing a SSL certificate and soon. This will mean that all login sessions will be handled over HTTPS. The security enhancements I referred to previously were more specifically in regards to software patching which prevent against attacks such as SQL injection attacks which Jess-- kindly explained. I'm sorry you feel that way but in any case, there is no downgrade option from IPBoard 4.1 to 3.4. It would technically be possible to restore from an old backup meaning we'd lose 6 months of content but to be frank, I'm not doing it. Thank you You are right in that this version of the forum software requires more server resources than the old one. As such, we migrated to a new server with more CPU cores, more memory and solid state disks in order to address any performance issues and to add storage capacity to accommodate the increasing size of the database. We also offload to AWS. As you may recall, I have a lot of admin experience with vBulletin. More than I do with Invision in fact and to be honest my personal preference is vBulletin by some margin. That said, the functionality is significantly different (Moreso than the change from 3.4 to 4.1) and I had concerns that some users may not accept such a significant change. I agree that the VNC issue could have been handled better but we responded to user feedback as quickly as we could. This was an oversight on my part. I don't agree about your comments in regards to security being overplayed. Call be paranoid, but I've had to recover 2 forums from SQL injection attacks in 14 years. - The old version of IPBoard was developed using an older version of PHP. What would you do when PHP 5 is deprecated? - The old version of IPBoard no longer receives security updates making it vulnerable to future cross-site scripting attacks and SQL injection attacks to name a few possibilities - The old version of IPBoard is no longer supported. If you encountered a major software issue and required the support from Invision, how would you go about this? We rarely needed to contact them to be fair but when we did, they did not always provide any support because we were using an unsupported version of their software. I have no doubt that you will come up with at least some answers but these were the challenges we faced and all things considered, we felt the need to apply the update. I don't want to dwell on that too much as it's not something we can revert. Sorry if I've missed anything. I've just got home from work and now need to do my boating chores! Rich
  24. Might need to clear your browser cache. I see it as below.
  25. Yes but not overnight though I am sure someone will be along to show a way of doing it with a browser plugin in the meantime. I've not really noticed it until you pointed it out but it could be neater.
