If they pressure washed your pontoons it is in your best interest, and good on the management for doing what is necessary If the job was done properly, any 'overblast' should have been rinsed off with the hose soon afterwards. If it wasn't you have every right to complain in no uncertain terms to whoever pressure washed the pontoon and expect you boat to be in the same condition as when you left it before the pontoon were cleaned.

If I read this right, you agree that it is the marina's responsibility to make sure that the place is safe.

No offense Mr Carper, but if the if the original poster's mooring is in disrepair he will have no business fixing it himself as it does not belong to him.

I would politley write to the marina highlighting the areas that could benefit from some improvement and ask for specific replies to your comments, all nice and friendly of course. After that, if you don't feel you have been treated professionally there are a number of avenues you can follow. If there are serious safety issues we all have a duty of care to highlight them for yourself and others who use the facility. As said earlier, the marina operators also have a duty of care to its users. I woulnt feel too bad about exposing them if that duty is neglected. Having said that, if they do make substantial improvements, expect the fees to go up.

I recommend you use well seasoned old ones. New 'railway sleepers' from timber merchants can in some cases split after a while. To be sure of the spacing, have a look round other boats in the yard and that will give you a good idea of where to place them. Best to keep them away from any skin fittings and the areas that you want to work on. Depending on the type of ground, sand may not be the best thing. A good deep layer of shingle would be better and wont wash away so readily. Hope that helps.

It might be worth getting one from the USA, pay the postage and the duty and still make a saving.

I chose butlertecknic as I have used them for spare parts in the past and they were very good. Worth checking the webpage every now and then as they do have reductions. You might be able to find a d2 cheaper elsewhere. I have seen then on ebay for about six hundred quid, delivered from Turkey........... For those of us that are in the Swindon or Bristol area I can thouroughly recomment Halls Electrical for service. I don't work for them!

Others may reccommend Mikuni kits as early eberspacher units were'nt known for reliabilty. From what I gather there have been various upgrades to the Eberspacher to overcome this. Be wary of second hand units, there is often a very good reason its for sale.

If you can get to your nearest recycling centre ask if you can one off an old battery to replace it.
