  6. It is a great looking boat, the lines are true to the original and it didn't need any artificial rivets to impress. Any idea on the original cost?
  7. I'm not sure who built It, but there was a modern replica of a large grand union called Arundel which worked on the gravel run from Denham. A similar build would make an excellent base for the sort of project you have in mind.
  8. That matches what I had been told, the station boat portion hadn't held up as well as the josher part of the hull, which looked in excellent condition.
  9. The first thing to consider is the condition of the hull, work done here will not be cheap and will involve a waiting list. It will be no use putting any work off as any fitting out would need to be removed to carry it out.
  10. I'm sure that Russia has a station boat bow, grafted on after the original was removed to produce a flat front suitable for dredging. The new bow added to make it easier to sell on.
  11. Cheers, The eBay link is useful and I'll get away with 1 3/4", the bar is about half inch, the interior planking is a shade over an inch with 1/2" ply on the outside. Thanks for trying.
  12. I would say that the shank is most certainly that by eye, will check in the morning. Material is brass but not too worried about that, the length x head size has been the problem- I have temporarily glued heads hacksawed off of countersunk bolts to fill the missing ones. There are seven missing.
  13. Similar story with epoxy, leave the flatting 'til the end.
  14. I haven't added it to the historic f/s thread, still haven't mastered the embedded link. The stern has got a fair amount of sweep but is well executed and doesn't seem to have taken away too much original structure. Boat has been on our moorings for a fair time and I have often admired the condition of the hull, with prominent rivets not showing much wear. From memory the original baseplates may still be in place.
  15. I have measured the screw and attached a picture of it, and the bar that they fix in place. It is 1 1/2" long and the head is 14mm across-much longer and they would emerge outside!
  16. There is a bantock type boat for sale currently at Virginia Currer on the slough arm, boat is called Rebecca and is priced in the mid thirties. The hull looks to be in very good condition, and the conversion to motor stern is nicely done.

  18. We'll found, I keep looking but no luck as yet. One type i'd like to get my hands on is the screws that hold the 'D' section onto the interior of a Woolwich back cabin, to reinforce the area where the range is situated. They are only about an inch long with a giant head, if you know of a supplier please let me know!
  19. They have become very expensive when available, there is a company called screwsline that hold old stock in some less common sizes.
  20. I have used an epoxy called Timber seal ps which is uv stable, can be painted or varnished, excellent stuff. I have found that sealing the cut edges can be improved by using the last bit of mixed resin as it starts to thicken, The build up gives a glass like finish when rubbed down.
  21. We'll have to disagree on that one, I have several near identical slabs of this inside my boat. As mentioned by Starman, the dust is hideous-akin to mustard gas. Would agree that planing isn't a problem, I remade the runners for the slides on engine room/back cabin by planing some of the offcuts of the interior installations into shape, an excellent finish was achieved.
