  1. Otherton? There's a Railway Station in Penkridge and the trains run into Stafford and Wolverhampton.
  2. A rainy Sunday job (when Villa aren't playing at home).
  3. Oh...I sort of deleted the website by accident. Oops. I've got the photos all backed up, it's just a matter of finding the time to put them back, seeing as I have a new boat to play with and two jobs I'm struggling for time! Shall I put Albion back just to make you happy? :-)
  4. Take Tony, he needs the practice... PS. Ive left the can out for Dad to take to work, hopefully he remembers it!
  5. I had my eye on a nice little Cruiser stern, reverse layout, lovely job... Seriously though, I'm down Stowe Hill quite a lot these days doing a bit of work for Dominic.
  6. Spotted Sickle passing through Stowe Hill today on the way to Braunston. The only other working boat to come through heading in the direction of Braunston was a Woolwich (little I think) which looks to have been shortened. It usually moors at Stowe Hill.
  7. I don't think is should be limited to those boats that worked (I'd include early hire boats in the catagory) on the waterways, the early examples of pleasure craft should be included in my opinion as they were the inspiration for the majority of what we have on the waterways today.
  8. I had an incident at Alrewas when we moored on the visitor moorings near to the river lock. A boater was on the waterpoint, which was further away from the lock than where we were moored, but at the same time we both left our moorings. The lady on the boat obviously thought we were trying the race them to the lock, then proceeded to tell us (using a few choice words) what she thought of us. Anyway, I told her I was sorry if I had upset her and she was quite welcome to use the lock before me. I think she was quite surprised by this offer, didn't really know what to say, screamed a little more and said we should have the lock as we obviously wanted it more. Anyway, I'm not one for confrontation, so I pulled in and let them think they were snatching the lock from me, just so I didn't have to put up with her chirping in my ear as we worked through the lock. I'm not sure why some people feel like they have to get this angry about small things, it just spoils the day for everyone.
  9. Apologies, Adam. That was just what Stuart said to me, I guess he was concerned that the price may put potential customers off considering him as a choice of fitter. Equally I have a suspicion some owners may like to exaggerate what they paid for things!! Not that I'm saying this is true of Lesley and Joe… Fenchurch, there's an example of a pretty standard Norton Canes shell with a Gardner 2LW fitted, cost no more than any other NC shell. The owners decided they wanted a fancy electrical system and to load as much into the boat as possible, then the price suddenly rockets.
  10. Stuart from Barnowl told me that the magazine made a mistake with the price. It actually cost £130k.
  11. Same could be said for quite a few boats at the Stoke Bruerne Gala last weekend! The Programme didn't seem the most accurate from what I saw, although I didn't get there until later on yesterday.
  12. Lets start a list of boats we know to be going... Admiral Chertsey - are you taking Bakewell too? Hampton Linnet Ling Owl Sickle Stanton Victoria Already there: Dover Vulcan
  13. 75 seems to be the number that most are expecting.
  14. You can talk!! Taking Linnet this year aren't you?
  15. Was taking the same boat two years in a row a bit much for you?
  16. Team Collingwood are rumoured to be in the pub.
  17. Just added a few other forum members to our team, not sure if any of the others are members on here?
  18. Paul, Rob Bryan based on the Ashby at Stoke Golding, fitted and scumbled the back cabin of Apache. Sarah
  19. The Wyrley is a great canal, recently dredged, loads of water, take it easy through the bridge holes and you'll be fine.
  20. We're not doing the Wyrley? I'm gonna sulk...
