    When you say glued what did you use ? You need proper locktite for bolts or can you drill a small hole though the head of the bolt and lock it with locking wire ?

    Hi If you are going to paint the doors why not strip out the old wood Then put a panel of 18g aluminium in the frame and birch or marine ply and aluminium on the other side and plenty of sealer graham

    If it’s like a house thermostat you may only have to. Take the cap off and slide the thermostat out that’s the bit where all the wires go to and fit a new one warning turn the electric off first graham

    I work with steel a lot in my job and looking at the photo that looks bad sorry I bet if you hit it with a hammer a hole would appear I would not try this with the boat in the cut Graham

    If a rod /Conrod snaps it’s normally the small end in the piston that gives up this is often caused by over reving the engine or short of oil Graham
