  1. So he is actually employed by a "security company" who are contracted by CaRT to provide security at the Marina. He is not an employee of CaRT.
  2. With reference to the NBW link above: Many volunteers "pay" for what they enjoy doing, and not just with their time, so the company complaing need to do a bit more research! Why shouldn't a charity get it's costs covered in providing them supervision and equipment? Some examples of my own expenses: I provide all my own recovery equipment as part of 4x4 Response Wales. I bought my own specific radio for acting as a Safety Radio on car rallies, plus drive many miles each year to do it, and get no expenses. Although St John provided a basic First Aid kit I purchased extra, more advanced equipment for my use.
  3. Sorry it happened, but you did, of course, report this to the hire boat company?
  4. The pub opposite Cuckoo Wharf used to be dire, and I doubt it will have improved. When we stopped there, there was a good breakfast/lunch take-away just by the gate onto the main road.
  5. Tove, You make a very emotive statement, but do not back up your statistics with a source, therefore making them a trifle useless. Please can you provide your sources? And have you taken into account the footprint of the production of the steel and fittings of a narrow boat?
  6. They haven't. "Red" diesel contains both a dye to colour the fuel, plus a chemical trace that also records the manufacturer. VOSA now test for the chemical trace more than for the dye, as it can be used in evidence. Agricultural vehicles using red diesel can only do so in specific manner, laid down by legislation, one of which is within a specific distance of their base/farm. It is one of the things VOSA check at their check points near Marts.
  7. Why not try reading the innumerable threads here first?
  8. The Church isn't actually that high above the canal, see here: http://goo.gl/maps/JqpyM
  9. Top one is Kidderminster town Lock, when the carpet factory was still there. Now a retail complex. Bottom I think is one of the locks on the same canal, but not sure which. Possibly Kinver?
  10. Re the "arrest". The original posting states that the Police were present when the boat was removed. The Police may attend any eviction (land or boat), if requested, so as to prevent a possible Breach of the Peace. If they consider that any of the occupants might, repeat might, cause such a Disturbance, then they can arrest that person before the actual Eviction is done. Once the "action" has been completed then the Police will release (un-arrest) the occupants.
  11. Perhaps Dan you need to give a lot more information on what you want, and what the editorial basis of the programme will be.
  12. Impossible to answer with such limited information.
  13. They are still doing that. VOSA Test Units are often found at a lay-by near the Mart at Welshpool and in the Weight Test Station at the Ross-on-Wye end of the M50. I know of at least 2 diesels pick-ups that have been siezed at Welshpool.
  14. You could also try: siliconehoses.co.uk
  15. Diolch yn fawr, Tree. And if you are ever in Llanidloes I'll treat you to the best coffee and organic chocolate cake in Mid Wales. Good luck with getting everything finished.
  16. I love reading your comments, Tree. Have a "cwtch" from over the Border.
  17. Being as it is so hot, could it be that the fridge is overheating? How good is the ventilation to the rear of the fridge?
  18. Some of them have an in-built alarm that sounds at the nearest signal box/control centre, others have to be eye-balled, but that is often done a watchman actually being on or very close to the bridge. We have a few in this area.
  19. Not related to Neil Kinnock, are you?
  20. You prove your "income" by keeping accounts, which I believe they now cross reference with your Self-empolyed Tax Status, so you have to register as that as well. If your earnings are low you can also apply for a Small Earnings Exception so you don't have to pay the Class 2 contribution.
  21. Thank you, but unfortunately I think we will need a lot more details before you will get an answer here. For example, your TV could be 12v or 240v, and your cooker certainly won't be 12v. You really need your other half to come on here and give us all the details; then you will get some help and advice.
  22. The solar suitcases are designed, typically for caravanners, to charge a 12v battery, not a computer battery.
