  1. If you Google "exhaust diverter valve" you should find something suitable. They are sometimes used in the custom car world
  2. Do you mean a 50' vertical drop, or a 50' long slope downwards?
  3. But hasn't it since been found that the London couple were not abiding by the Terms & Conditions of their mooring? And how many of us does it need to be said, and have proved in the past, that overall boating anywhere is NOT cheap. You seem to have a blinkered view of the matter!! I suppose that make me a part of the nasty clan too.
  4. I love to know what you said!
  5. So they could apply for a Diversion Order and save themselves a fortune building a new bridge.
  6. Plenty of experienced people on here have said that all you need on the front of your boat is a standard car fog light type lamp, mounted so that it points up towards the tunnel roof about a boats length in front of you, plus all the internal lights on. At the rear leaving the rear doors open with the interior lights on will provide more than adequate light for you to see, and be seen from from behind. If you want something a bit more "personal" for you to see a bit more what is approaching you, then a small torch headlight is more than adequate. If you wish to boat at night then the front "tunnel" light dropped downwards to fairly close to the front of the boat will be more than adequate. Anything more than this is both over complicating the matter plus potentially making you a nuisance by blinding boats coming towards you. Keeping a good torch close to hand in a tunnel is also useful if your main lights fail for some reason.
  7. You made the original comment about "peppercorn rent", and I did not consider £10 a week ground rent on a property I owned under the strange Bristol system of "Freehold and Free" to be particularly cheap. It was not "entrenched or combative" in any way, whereas your reply above is most certainly that!
  8. Really! I don't know what you call "peppercorn" but I have seen Ground Rent figures in excess of £500 a year in Bristol and Cardiff, on private houses.
  9. Thorpe Hesley Permissive B.1 19/02/13 12/06/13 dangerous footbridge Swinton F.No.4 22/2/13 15/06/13 dangerous footbridge Interesting that the first is a "permissive" path. Perhaps Katie could confirm which it is?
  10. The plans for the redevelopment of Alvechurch Station and the rebuilding of the other platform have been known for some time, and I understand were done after discussion with the local community, especially as they have been pushing for an improved service on that line. Network Rail will have applied for all the relevant permissions.
  11. Katie. If it is a Right of Way and it has now been closed then a Regulation Order will have been issued to temporarily close it or even divert it. Was this what the Notice was? I suggest that instead of complaining on here you write to the Rights of Way Dept of the local Council and get a definitive answer from them. You could also involve your local Councillor and get them to inquire. What designation does the bridge show as on the OS map?
  12. Why can't it be right? And whoopee, an hours commiute to work!! I know people who do lots more than that. Even I choose to do it. Get over yourself!!
  13. I really do hope that you are joking!! If not, then you are a first rate Richard Cranium
  14. Have you looked at a V5 lately? In BIG letters it says "THIS IS NOT PROOF OF OWNERSHIP"!! Lots of people buy cars without sight of the V5 and get them later, also lots of people end up buying cars that the "owner" had no right to sell because they were on finance. Therefore people are advised to do a credit search on the reg number first. Sorry, but you are looking for problems where they generally don't exist.
  15. Nothing I can think of. Are you sure it was a canal tunnel and not a railway tunnel? TBH most things are north of the M4 as that sits close to or on the coastal plain.
  16. 1/ Crumlin Branch of the Monmouthshire Canal. If you'd looked to the other side of the motorway you would have seen a flight of locks http://www.newport.gov.uk/_dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=thingstosee.fourteenlocks 2 + 3/ There are several canals in the Swansea Valley. http://canalrivertrust.org.uk/canals-and-rivers/swansea-canal http://www.swanseacanalsociety.com/ http://www.neath-tennant-canals.org.uk/ 4/ Boat trips on the Brecon & Monmouth Canal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monmouthshire_and_Brecon_Canal http://canalrivertrust.org.uk/canals-and-rivers/monmouthshire-and-brecon-canal It isn't just you english that have all the fun you know! ;-}

  19. 1/ Yes. 2/ Possibly but you could form a quicker path the earth. 3/ See 2 4/ Eh? 5/ You are thinking too much. Electrickery in the wrong place hurts!
  20. To be honest, that video proves nothing, as there needs to be a comparison with the same boat fitted with a normal rudder doing the same thing. And why is the tiller at such a strange angle?
  21. Don't worry, I'm in a good mood! Was a good win, wasn't it!! Here's your hedgehog Charity: http://www.sttiggywinkles.org.uk/ And of course there are lots of volunteer members of this Charity currently working very hard down in Somerset:: https://www.wessex4x4response.org.uk/home I still think that Kevin made a stupid comment though!
  22. Sorry, but that is much too a narrow description of what a Charity does. I suggest you do a bit more research before making silly statements.
