  1. Congratulations, she looks very neat. Black Prince boats always seem to be very well built. I'm sure the experts will be along soon to comment, but I don't think running the eengne for just 45 minutes at a time will be doing the batteries much good. I suspect you might need to do it longer than that.

  3. All explained https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victim_surcharge Standard in all fines now.
  4. I suppose it depends on the type of sites you use. We use a lot of CL's and rallies, as do a lot of our friends, so we do rely on just the battery. Having moved to all LED lights I find that I can last about 5 days on a 90amp battery, but have now bought a 100w solar panel. Debating whether to fit it to the roof, or leave it free standing. My last battery expired after 5 years. When not in the 'van it's connected to a smart charger in the shed, which seems to help preserving it's life.
  5. An awful lot use sites with no hook-ups and rely totally on their 12v systems! And rely on a single, at most, 110amp battery. Only recently are caravans being fitted with solar panels to keep their battery charged when off-grid.

  8. I don't think 7 responses can be considered very balanced!
  9. So members who walk, cycle, visit, hire or have share boats on the canals are not entitled to a view or be members of this forum?
  10. This is a DISCUSSION forum, so any member can join in any discussion. Perhaps you hadn't realised that.
  11. What has that got to do with anything?

  17. So are you implying that only those who own a boat, and possibly live on one are the only people who can have a valid opinion on this forum? If that was the case then there wouldn't be many members here!

  20. Didn't you learn the difference between nouns and proper nouns when you were at school? Small s = noun Big S = proper noun. Now read what I wrote again. And your explanation above makes no sense.
  21. So the 46 year old MG Midget I collect today can be considered to be a "green" car? I must remember to tell that to the next "green" who criticises cars!
  22. When they worked on that section in the past, I seem to remember they fitted stop planks just below Commandery Lock, so the length from there to Diglis Basin was still in water
  23. You still wrote it, and have used similar (incorrect) words in the past, so your smiley was ignored. I am awaiting your description of the two words? Is that beyond you?
  24. Really? I suggest firstly you take note there is a big difference between a Socialist and a socialist. Notice the capital letter! I know of NO socialist that wants everything for free, and funnily enough neither do I know of a Socialist that wants it either. Secondly, define both of those words? I bet you can't! But then it really isn't any surprise, as you've made ths mistake before!
  25. Fire Brigade hose drops, so that they could drop suction hoses into the canal to provide a ready and easily accessed water supply.
