  2. What did you replace the square with?
  3. CRT currently impose a maximum stay of 14 days (actually it might be 14 nights) on the whole of the connected portion of the Montgomery canal - 14 full stop, not 14 then a charge. Do they have a statutory basis to do so? If so, then how is one specified stretch of water different from another? They may already have the powers?
  4. You might consider pointing him at Tim Leech at Dutton.
  5. It seems mainly to be to add the word "London" to the increasing list of terms whose meaning is disputed.
  6. The pub next to the Big Lock is called... The Big Lock To answer the OP, been a good few times, not every year, enjoyable weekend out.

  8. The service block at Anderton is closed in its entirety (Elsan, pump out, showers) due to pump problems and has been for the last 10 days. Water taps ok. I don't recall seeing this on a stoppage email.
  9. Indeed, apart from the middle of Birmingham it seems pretty deserted. At one point we hadn't seen another moving boat for three days, and when we did their greeting was... "We haven't seen another moving boat for three days!", and this was in mid summer. I had been a bit concerned about the prospect of finding a "safe" overnight site full up, but by and large they were deserted with the exception of Ocker Hill where the Land & Water dredging team had filled the entire visitor moorings with plant (and had managed to sink a tug!)
  10. IF you take the drain plug out, don't lose the metal washer... Can't remember if the Hurth has a magnetic drain plug, if it does then you really need to take the plug out to clean any crud off it.
  11. Sounds like he was unlucky, we've done all the navigable bits that you've just run your highlighter over and love it. The only place I've ever had any bother was the south end of Coseley Tunnel, with some kids dropping stuff off the parapet. Sent the missus through first with the ship's biggest windlass and camera
  12. And thirded. Maplin if you need it in a hurry, eBay for a better price. I've bought various non time critical bits from Hong Kong and China on eBay, delivery times have been variable, only one package want AWOL (refunded without quibble), so I think I'd do so again.
  13. That is pretty much the approach I had to take to the calorifier connections, which were parallel and too big for tap connector-type fittings. I agree it's not the best option though.
  14. Possibly. Otherwise something like http://www.plumbingplace.co.uk/hep2o-hx24-15-brass-adaptor-15x3-4-white.html sealed with ptfe or plumbajoint.
  15. Assuming you are in the right place and seeking to answer your questions, the Incinolet website says it uses 1.5kWh per cycle. That's probably a non-starter on most UK inland waterways craft, which in the main tend towards low voltage (12V), low current electrical installations. Many have inverters mainly for infrequent use, and some have engine-driven mains generators, but most would regard that level of power requirement as excessive. (Sweeping generalisations are always a bad idea, and no doubt all the exceptions to the above will be along shortly with detailed descriptions of their electrical installations ) Folding beds, or part folding beds are not uncommon on UK inland craft, but the usual double bed size is around 4ft. There are styles of boat and interior layouts which permit wider beds, but these are less common. Hope that helps.
  16. Some might say that this has already happened, apart from some of us old fashioned types!
  17. Your restrained understatement is commendable! Clearly the logging "system" is somewhat inadequate.
  18. Yes, and you're liable for carpital gains tax every time...

  21. I recall the one near Autherley. It was pretty vile! I am concerned that there is no running water in the Elsan though, that just encourages (some) folk to use the drinking water taps for rinsing water, and not everyone is considerate enough to use an old milk bottle:(
  22. One trusts that once given a nominated seat, the IWA will refrain from putting forward or endorsing candidates for the elected positions next time round.... Oink! Flap!
