  1. Your wrong which is a sad indictment of the teaching profession!
  2. Those were not the excuses used by the police! They refer to criminal intent. I suspect what you refer to are defences that he may have used if he was asked as to his actions but it never got that far.
  3. Reminds me of the saying 'A friend in need is a friend indeed' He is clearly a gentlemen. Respect.
  4. Well I know what I would do if it were my car and the farmer would be regretting his actions. As for the police, another typical cannot be bothered attitude and since when was criminal intent required to prove criminal damage? The press wonders why crime rates have fallen. If the police fail to record crimes then the numbers recorded will fall!

  7. Lets be honest. Would anyone take any advice from anyone with a user name of 'Dairy Queen' and a boat named 'Mighty Cow'? Mad Cow or Queen may have been more appropriate
  8. I am in 100% agreement with NMEA. When you need to deploy the anchor in anger is probably the worst time to find that it fails under load! Still I suppose a few quid saved will give someone peace of mind
  9. I believe it has been shown that most domestic appliances are unlikely to fail within the first few years of their use (that doesnt mean that some won't). As you know most come with a 12 month warranty (except John Lewis who I think give 2 years and sometimes 5). Should the item fail after the 12 months I understand it is cheaper to pay for the repair rather than the cost of the insurance policy! I would never ever buy an extended warranty. As the OP has shown there is only one winner in this fixed game

  12. How? It was he who reported the original thread!
  13. We live in a strange old world. Boaters get the hump if people dump stuff in the canal thus polluting it but they are quite happy to pollute the air that we breathe! Now if the there was no smokeless fuel available I could understand.

  20. You have my sympathies regarding the dislocated shoulder and glad that things did not turn out far worse. May I suggest that anyone who thinks that a rope ladder on a narrow boat is a good idea thinks through the use of it. They clearly have never used one and it is totally unfit for the purpose for which it is being suggested! You need something akin to a boarding ladder seen attached to the rear of a yacht. It could be stored on the roof and simply placed on the deck when required. I know people poo poo self inflating life vests/jackets but what would the outcome have been if you had banged your head and become unconscious? I doubt we would be reading this thread!

  22. I suspect the OP has been provided with a set of circumstances/facts regarding this matter. He may or may not believe the details that he has been provided with and is attempting to verify something whereby the boat at that location is significant! I don't expect he is going to elaborate on the why's and wherefores so pass the popcorn Luctor lol ETA cross post with Mike on a similar theme
  23. Nothing to do with the huge amounts of dosh they get in legal aid for doing so then? How is he brave? Edited for spelling Couldn't have happened to a better guy

  25. I apologise if I have missed it elsewhere but in reality this appears to be about providing cheaper rental accommodation in London rather than an opportunity to try canal life! Hence the reference to tenancy agreements etc. Now if I could go outside the cesspit that is the M25 sign me up lol (no offence intended to those within the M25 as I lived there for 25 years myself)
