I think there are a growing number of people like Martin who do good work for a good price, but finding them can be difficult.
I'm certainly entertaining the idea of a second side hatch made by him once I remove the gas boiler.
Genuinely felt a bit chilly this morning, and the floor felt cold!
It's August, I refuse to put the heating on for at least another seven weeks but I might dig out my slippers...
Work pricing is entirely dependant on what they think they can charge. Anything "marine" is usually more expensive than the comparable product sold into other markets, just because "everyone expects it to be expensive on a boat".
I think what we're seeing is the difference between a Marine company charging for work, and a metal worker charging for work.
I like what I've seen of Kedian's metal work and wouldn't discount them purely on price.
It won't help you with the terrapin that's lurking in the bottom of your black tank though, ready to bite your bum when you're not looking!
(It's been a very long week of too many meetings!).
Number of people is a good start, but the size of the tank depends on what you wish to achieve.
Two showers daily? Hot water for washing up daily? Two very long showers and a bath for the dog daily?
No, but I did put a jumper on two nights ago for the evening - shock horror, it's August!
Admittedly, if I did want heating, I'd have to use the gas Alde boiler as I'm currently missing a Flue... soon to be rectified when a new one is fabricated (the old one had serious tin worm!).
I refuse to use the gas heating though, it costs too much!
Yes it should be, and it's been shown on here a few times that the Smartgauge knows better than battery charger indicators.
I can't help any further than that though as I don't know anything about the Outback.
Depends on my mood and what I need at the time. My favourite mooring (especially in winter) are the flashes near Middlewich. Often quiet (or in winter, I'm often the only one there!).
Sometimes it's nice to be in the hustle and bustle of a large town or city, but I struggle with crowds, so I'm usually happiest somewhere quiet.
That's interesting to know. Even though I had a survey only just under two years ago, it was still done the old way of griding back to bare metal to take the readings.
The blacking was due though, so nothing lost (apart from it being done badly and needed doing again 6 months later!).
Kits are put together by retailers, not by manufacturers. Would you be willing to buy the parts individually if they were listed? You'd probably get more for your money (and you'd get even more if you were willing to look at flea-bay.)
But the method of removal wasn't the issue. The problem is how the boat has been supported post-lift out.
Personally I prefer a method of removal where the failure only results in the boat refloating, but you can't really use this as an example of a reason not to use a crane.
Make sure you're noting all conversations. Time/Date, with whom and what was said by both parties.
Photographs of everything inside and out.
I know it's not maybe the first thing on your mind, and hopefully everything will be settled amicably, but you have to work towards the worse case scenario (and hope for the best!).
