  1. Prop sing just above tick over is normal, if a little irritating. Why not get the prop seviced when your boat is out for blacking. They'll straighten it and chamfer the edes which should help.
  2. Mine is hard wired to the 12v electrics for both leisure and starter bank (correctly fused too). No problem at all and when I'm on shorepower, I use it as a "fit and forget" charger.
  3. Don't forget to bed it into mastic first to make it watertight to the hull. Don't use silicon

  5. Yes it is wrong, you're right in the fact that you commissioned it and paid for it and shouldn't have been given to the seller without your permission. The copyright for the document is owned by the surveyor. Have you spoken to the Surveyor about this?
  6. Nah, you want the hand cart upgrade for that journey!
  7. Personally I use biological washing liquid, smells good too.

  10. I have the same one, bought from Nantwich marina. It's been great
  11. From your voltage reading it sounds like your battery monitor is way off. This is probably one of those times that also having a smartgauge fitted would show the inconsistencies.
  12. Donuts should only ever contain Jam or Custard, end of discussion!
  13. 3-4 amps not volts? What makes you think they're sulphated?
  14. But just look at all the certificates they've got, it must be good! (Not sure what the 50m freestroke certificate has to do with battery chargers though).
  15. Since when? It's been a month since I last went north?
  16. Enjoy, the feeling goes away eventually, after the first 12 months or so! (Or until you've survived your first winter).
  17. Infact Bruce, the last time I saw Sanity Again (with yourself on the tiller) was passing into Barnton Tunnel. Agreed though, no way you would get two boats passing through Barnton. Might be thinking of Saltersford, which I beleive was two way until faily recently?
  18. If you arrive late, there's usually just enough time to moor, get a coffee and a donut (correct spelling as per the donut police) and get cleared away before you head off into the darkness.
  19. Good luck, hope it all goes well. Will be interesting to see how the "professionals" raise it.
  20. No, you just stick your nose in and look for the light! It's crooked and only suitable for one boat at a time though
  21. By the sounds of it, you either need to deactivate the genny's low power mode - will it ever be running when not needed? Or fit a separate charger - maybe an Electroquest - available on Ebay.
  22. That's really rather impressive! I do like Vactan, but it's good to see actual examples of how good it is.
  23. The insurance and BSS implications would put most people off I'd have thought. Personally I think you may just find it easier/cheaper to hire.
  24. You're a lot closer than me! Should have the fabricator popping down first week of September to measure up, then I'll re-tile the stove surround. Once the new flue arrives (hopefully second week of September) I can get it all fitted!
  25. a 10amp alternator will manage a battery bank like that if you never use it. When considering the alternator size, you need to look at the number of amp hours that you're replacing.
