  3. I have some "leisure batteries" at the moment and they were adequate for when I was on a landline, however we are now CCing.I have been using a 175amp alternator and the 3.5kw Travel Pack through a 70 amp Victron charger.I have recently disconnected the alternator and I am just using the 70amp charger. The charging regime with both alternator and charger was making the batteries overheat.I think the result of using both at the same time as killed these batteries.
  4. Was this Tayna or Battery megastore?

    STOVES

Aintree Boats are a completely different outfit. So are you saying that cast iron inserts are better when burning coal?

    STOVES

I have a multifuel stove on the boat and I have been wondering about changing the cast iron inserts for vermiculite fire bricks. What's the difference? Does it need to be done if burning coal only?
  9. Nice one Dean,good questions,have a greenie.
  10. Heavy rain and thick cloud cover does affect the signal.
  11. Probably, however the ducklings seem a firm favourite with the Heron across from my boat.
  12. Mine must have been the cheap sh*t fitted by the shell builder, they have started to disintegrate after only 12 months.Hexagrip is the one to go for but still needs the edges protected.I have been toying with the idea of using Iroko and non slip tape.If I do use this I will post some piccies.
  13. Use a twin wall flue,it will help.I use Selkirk twin wall in stainless steel, quite cheap and will last a very long time.
  14. We use them cars as bridges ter get from one side of cut ter tother.Yep we are real poor, them rafts yer talk about are fert poor ter live on.
  15. "The director of the well-known (and notorious) hire company certainly was given some clear feedback from SWMBO." Good for her, wish I had been there!!
  16. Ah! the peace, yes indeed.Until the chavs on the Silsden hire boats come at you full throttle. Not tarring them all but most of the them.Ah yes the peace and tranquility of East Marton, until the swarthy crew of a Silsden Hire Boat comes crashing through at full throttle, the canal heaving and the wash going over the banking like the parting of the Red Sea.Not once did this happen today but thrice.Yes I did shout something but was threatened by some swarthy washer woman with a dirty gob that she would set her boys on me.The film Deliverance came to mind,I am sure I heard a Banjo.Yes indeed the peace and tranquility spoilt yet again as another Silsden boat about an half hour later came looming down on us and it seems the had been informed by the previous boat,by phone I presume,to come past as fast as possible and scrape my boat.Unfortunately they ended up almost hitting a boat in the bridge hole.Ah yes the peace and tranquility I look forward to comes when the Silsden Hire boat fleet is wrapped up for winter.
