  1. Well the rain has decided it wants to be indoors round the chimney collar!!.....grrr!.....looks like a job for some sikaflex when it's dry and daylight! Cheers Gareth
  2. Going along the ship canal was a lot of fun! Also an evening spent in the Barclay Arms at Purton was rather lovely....never been made to feel more welcome in any pub ever! Roll on 2014 for more fun! Cheers Gareth
  3. Oh to have the means to take it to Stationary Engine rallies…I bet it would sound luuuverlly……..perhaps I could convince SWMBO that we need it……. Off to dream…... Cheers Gareth
  4. Does he have an ACC sticker in his window? I'll get me coat! Cheers Gareth Ps I would phone the local CaRT office and have a word too!
  5. I have 12v domestics but 24v engine starting. The engine battery is charged from a 10A Adverc 12v-24v battery to battery charger. Great bit of kit. Only cuts in when the domestic voltage reaches about 13.4 so the engine battery's can be kept charged from the main battery charger as well as the alternator. Think it cost about £100 although that was a few years ago. Just sits there quietly doing its job. They can be paralleled too for higher current requirements. Cheers Gareth

    Fenders

You can get cheap or expensive fenders….it depends how "trad" you want them to be….they can be made from polyprop which is cheaper than sisal….however sisal looks right on a tad boat. Brian from Nb Alton who is on this forum makes lovely fenders…all hand made in sisal with no bits of old tyre etc as a core which can be found on cheaper ones….they will also last longer if looked after than the cheaper ones….and protect both your boat and whatever you may have hit better! Personally I would try to source my own…at least that way you know what you will be getting…..to give you some idea I paid in the region of £300 for 2 tipcats and a fancy button for the stern of my boat. I would go for rubber side fenders however….but I only use them when moored…..but thats a whole new thread! Cheers Gareth
  7. I have a set of his mooring pins....ace bit of kit....they do need a sledge hammer to get them in but no risk of them moving,....really nice chap as well....we got a friend some of his candle sticks too....they look lovely in her tattoo parlour! Please support him guys! Cheers Gareth
  8. If you get a flogas account and have a local depot or can get it delivered then it gets cheaper too....we were getting 19kg for £29 and 47kg for £69 for our unit heater The 47kg isn't much cheaper than calor to be fair which surprised me. Cheers Gareth
  9. £25.49 is RRP....anything less is a bonus....anymore is naughty! Cheers Gareth PS go to Stoke on Trent...that was cheapest we found in the summer....go thro the gate on the towpath near the marina....that was really cheap....of course we didn't need a bottle at the time!
  10. 13kg 22.50 Cheers Gareth
  11. I have had a day tank made in stainless by http://www.jaywolfe.co.uk/metal-tanks-northampton.php Really nice bloke....made a spot on copy of my rusted through steel one....fitted like a dream....think he makes water tanks for quite a few boatbuilders Hope that's useful Cheers Gareth

  13. Is it just the chines that are worn? Or the whole baseplate....which seems unlikely. My boat is quite deep draughted and has some wear on the chines where we drag the bottom but is still ok after 30 years and we only have a 6mm baseplate. If it's just the chines then you could just have some wear strips welded along the edges which could be easily removed should the whole baseplate need over plating at some point. Cheers Gareth Edited to add....Ditchcrawler beat me to it!!
  14. How about condensation....maybe steve slipped up a bit with the spray foam?... Cheers Gareth
  15. Aren't they supplied with a man who takes care of that sort of thing?? Cheers Gareth
  16. The big question is how much........
  17. That adaptor is just for that....camera to ipad I'm afraid....it might be USB but it will only talk to a camera....and not all cameras at that! It would need to be either Bluetooth or wifi to talk to an ipad...I can control some digital audio mixers using my ipad but they have to be on the same network. I agree it's much easier to do some stuff on the ipad....my mac only gets taken when I need to connect on a wired network or do some high end editing. Hopefully it won't be long before wifi interfaces are made for boat related kit so iPads can be used. Cheers Gareth
  18. I don't think it would talk to an ipad....it needs a USB socket and from what I can see the software is PC only.....very annoying I agree....the software for victron and mastervolt is the only reason I have to use parallels on my mac! Cheers Gareth Ps....is escapingpoole linked to Merlin perchance?....
  19. Dare I ask how much that cost.....I am very tempted so far.......which version did you go for...LCD or led? Cheers Gareth
  20. This company advertise in the back of stationary engine mag......no connection and never used but might be a start http://www.coxandturner.co.uk/holding.php The phone no in the mag is different tho....it's 01425 652627 Hope it's a start Cheers Gareth
  21. I have just remembered that several years ago I didn't get a renewal….when I phoned to check I was told I had sold my boat……This was news to me as i was sitting on it at the time! I agree that getting rid of the paper discs may not be the best way forward for boats and cars….. Cheers Gareth
  22. Give them a ring...always found them to be very helpful....I needed to get my licence sent early as we were going to be boating when it was due and it was all sorted easily when I explained it to them. Cheers Gareth
  23. Just a bit of an aside but you will need to change the anodes if it's come from fresh water from magnesium to zinc.....it may well need blacking/anti-fouling as well....might be worth asking on a yottie forum as to what's best for steel boats. Cheers Gareth

  25. There are quite a few companies that will make a plastic tank for you to a size…..they will be a lot more rugged than a loft tank! Also you would need to seal the lid on a loft tank incase you left the hose going a bit too long. I think your theory is sound but use a tank designed for the purpose….houses don't tend to move as much as a boat. Cheers Gareth
