Thanks for the advice. I think battery monitoring is needed We don't have any at the moment. We thought we were being frugal with our energy consumption, but perhaps not enough! What is the best cost effective power consumption monitor? Is it easily installed? is it worth buying as generator? What sort of price. Or is solar power a good additional alternative? I think we'll leave the inverter and fridge off for a week and blast the engine to hopefully get the power back.

Hi there, We have recently been having problems with losing power on our batteries, so around 4 weeks ago, we have 4 new leisure batteries fitted. However the problem has continued. Our inverter has started beeping and the fridge is cutting off, so i think the batteries have lost power. -We had the batteries fitted by experts, so I think they were fitted properly. -We charge the batteries from the engine. And have been running the engine for at least an hour a day and sometimes up to 4 hours to attempt to recharge. -We have only been running lights, fridge, tv (sporadically) and water. No charging/laptops etc. -We only turn the inverter on when we need power from the sockets, which is around an hour a day. -We have been reassured that they were top quality batteries If anybody can help with advice as to why we are losing charge/not charging up, any advice would be appreciated, as we have no power at the moment. I am also worried that the £450 we spent on new batteries has gone to waste and that the batteries are now dead. Thanks

Hi there, Des anybody know of a good and reliable engineer who could look at our engine and thermostat? We are currently unable to heat up our water using our Perkins engine, when moored. We are based on The Regents Canal near to Kensal Green on The Paddington Branch. Thanks, Sam

Thanks for your advice. I will look into inspecting/replacing the stat. Does anybody know of something else I can install to heat the water? Or is running the engine the only option?

Hello all, We are live aboards and after driving for a few hours we have hot water however when moored up and leaving engine in gear and on for a few hours no hot water.... Does any know of anything we might be doing wrong or any alternatives to heating water without hookup. Many thanks for your help and advice!!

Hello, I am just in the process of trying sort out the license for our new boat and just curious whether cruisers around the london area have a regular CRT license or a gold one to enable them to cruise the thames. I ask as i am a complete novice and would like to know whether the gold license is required to enable us to travel complete continuous loops of the london area? or is the non-tidal area of the thames still managed by the environment agency? also do some people tend to have a regular membership and use the thames as a pay as you go basis? Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but would very much appreciate anyones feedback. Many thanks and kindest,

yes it is quite confusing, couldn't give me any information as why it isn't on stoppages list think will have to wait til 8th march now once stoppage at branston complete. booooo!
