  3. If the tank was left with some water in over winter I'd be tempted to run some milton....or thin bleach...through it to sterilise then flush and refill. Cheers Gareth

  11. I use it in the gritty potty over winter.....the pump out gets the sealand bags when it's in use. Personal choice innit!! Cheers Gareth.
  12. Much as I love Aldi I was quite disappointed with the loo blue. Found it almost thinner than water & not effective at its job. Cheers Gareth
  13. I thought OAT could damage yellow metals too? Oh and my boat has copper pipes joined with capillary joints......was like that when I brought it. Cheers Gareth.
  14. Why not nip across the Ribble? I know St Mary's Marina at Rufford have a painter who's work looked good when we were there over last summer. I'm sure others could recommend painters on the north west too. It's a fun trip! Cheers Gareth
  15. That was one mans opinion!...of course it's allowed!....excuse my sarcasm.......we must have held him up by about 2mins while we reattached the line.....he wasn't happy and was letting all and sundry know it....to be fair quite a few other boats did lend a hand but as ever it's the negative ones that stick in the mind! Cheers Gareth Edited to add We had the tow on cross straps....I think if we had used the long line then we would have ended up with a boat in the middle of the tow!
  16. Mainly that we had the audacity to tow a boat through a flight of single locks! They had to wait while we got the tow sorted. Apprarently it's not allowed!! I'm afraid they got a curt response and told if they weren't going to help they could stay out of the way....or words to that effect. I classed a broken down boat as a vessel in distress. Therefore I think you are allowed to help whatever your policy says. Sometimes you do what's right rather than what's in black & white! Cheers Gareth
  17. That will be Steph on Whychboy...I may not have that spelling right! Lovely lady and dog! Once towed her from fradley to burton when her engine had a wobble. I was amazed at the boaters that we met that said I shouldn't be doing that! Only met her when we moored in front of her. Surely everyone would offer help if another boater was in trouble? Haven't seen her for a while so good to know she's still boating. Cheers Gareth
  18. A haircut??? Wash your mouth out with soap young man! I've never been so shocked by a suggestion in all my life!! Cheers Gareth
  19. I got one too....,was hoping I had been reported....now I'll have nothing to moan about....I'm livid!! Lol Cheers Gareth
  20. I was thinking pipes and calorifier coils..... Cheers Gareth
  21. Seconded....it's very sad....seems when you offer help now you are eyed with suspicion. Even when I'm single handed I've helped others through that are coming towards me or in front.....it really confuses some people!....I hope if enough of us keep doing it then we can get back to how it was.....I've only had a hissy fit once or twice when a well crewed boat seemed unable to leave their craft and wer happy to let me do all the work.....I was forthright in my indignation! Cheers Gareth
  22. Be warned that some of the long life stuff isn't good for copper or brass......antifreeze is now quite complicated! Cheers Gareth
  23. So have you tried using it yet?..... Cheers Gareth Edited to add.... Oh just found the post where you did!
  24. I'd vote for Oozells st loop too...but there is a big aircon plant which can get right annoying!....also outside the flats is a possibly a bit quieter than the NIA side.....it might pay to see what's on there when you expect to moor......some events have more rowdy fans than others! Cheers Gareth
