  1. Done but did have problems as I was trying to put a decimal place in the mooring cost but having read all the comments I was able to complete it. I must also add that the marina is applying for residential status and we have been told of the council tax cost if we want to apply to become residential. My name is down for that.
  2. I'm glad you got it sorted. I have these in my cupboards, At £5 they have lasted 2 yrs with no battery change yet. http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/handtools/torches-work-lights/torches/B-and-Q-24-LED-Magnetic-Clip-Light-Black-10467522?skuId=10958228 Very useful and when my neighbour had a problem with his batteries and was without electricity he borrowed them for the evening.
  3. Massive hug sent your way Hope you get the mess sorted out Ok

  5. Whilst in Liverpool earlier this month, our team were thankfully in a private dining room in a restaurant. I asked one of my colleagues from Belgium if she had been shopping , she said yes she had been to M&S for underwear. The conversation continued with the girls in the group discussing the merits of M&S underwear. Suddenly Annaliese said that she always got compliments about her pants and that people loved the feel of them…… There was silence around the table and a few confused glances……. Never one to shy away I asked her how many people actually touched her pants and she said quite a few especially the girls in the office…. It was only when she then stood up and touched her leg that we all realised she was talking about tights.
  6. When I was looking to buy I also went to Whilton. I may have given an impression that I didnt know much (and being fair I dont know much about electrics/gas/engines - yep Im a numpty) but I am not stupid. Whilton were by far the shadiest of all the brokerages I went to. I am in sales and so know all the blarny you can pull (if you choose to be dishonest ) I also teach sales training techniques - I would not ask these guys to sell anything nor would I buy from them. I am sorry your parents were disappointed and out of pocket. Hope they find a better boat soon. Well done you for giving others a head up on this boat. Louise
  7. Congratulation Kim. Does sound like you have had a tough learning curve but hopefully its all OK soon. Welcome to Mercia too, I shall look out for someone walking 5 dogs and say hello.

  10. I would recommend Chris from Canvasman - 01943850567. Fab work and very helpful Louise
  11. Hi Spuds I have Sky installed on the boat in July. It was a bit of a hassle to order only because the sales team kept saying that it couldnt be done so you need to talk to the technical department. I got the casic package which was discounted by 50% so its only £10.75 per month, a new Sky +HD box and a dish. The only problem was that I had to put the marina address down to book the engineer but asked them to send the card to the postal address I use so the card went to the marina and got lost. No real issue the resent the card and the engineer put it all together. I didnt need the dish but I had it anyway and gave it to a fellow boater. As others have said you can't use the interactive buttons but I can record and as BobbyBass said you can still order paid for events/films etc. Hope that helps Louise

  13. Best wishes and hope the upturn in luck continues
  14. Another recommendation for Chris at Canvasman.... Love that they can personalise the covers and he is very helpful too.
  15. Thanks for the reminder, just signed.
  16. And I'm a girl so not part of this "old boys club"... Can't quite believe the OP's venom
  17. Well..... thats told me then. Having first been a little concerned that you felt like this I was trying to help and therefore asked what you meant and assumed (incorrectly as it happens) that it was a tiller pin you were thinking of. Being new to this too, I had wanted to post something as I had and still do feel that folks on here help when they can. This post from you is IMO is rude and given that that's how you feel I wont be posting to "help" you again. Good luck with getting your wife's anniversary present
  18. Hi POCO I have found the opposite here but I am sorry you feel like that. Re rudder bolt - is it a tiller pin you are after? If it is you can try www.blackcountrymetalworks.co.uk or www.miracleleisureproducts.co.uk/tiller-pins/cat_7.html or www.dracocrafts.com/tillerpins.html Hope you have better luck with your other questions Louise Edit - Jerra beat me to it
  19. Hi Lea and welcome. I work full time and can be away from the boat for a long time during the day so when I bought my boat I knew I would want a marina mooring (there were other reasons too) I have a Westie so found someone who was happy to walk my dog during the day. He gets walked morning and afternoon, Harvey (dog walker) checks he has fresh water etc during the day and if its warm weather I can leave the hatch & doors open to have some breeze. Considering when I lived in a house he had access to the garden all day he has adjusted very well (he is 15yrs old) Living in the marina has meant that my neighbours have all got to know George and one of them even "calls" for him a weekends so that he and his wife have a reason to go for a walk. Good luck with your new start Louise
  20. No problems. It was my pleasure. Hopefully Eddie has it all sorted now. Must agree with you about this forum being great though Jan x
  21. Im in Mercia right next to Midland Chandlers and Im off to Tamworth in an hour. I dont have a spare hook up but will happily go and buy one to take over if that helps.
  22. They do have lovely buildings Stickleback just dont go there when the Ball Games are on - looks like a place time forgot with everything boarded up, good fun though.
  23. Sorry about font - hopefully it's OK now Trento
  24. Sorry to disappoint you all with my confusion on Sky (yep I'm a little sad that my excitement was over pause & record TV) Martin - you are right that is the best sky Kev - I don't have enough words to describe that weather storm, it was just fab.
  25. I am looking for a helmsman course where they will come to my boat and impart some knowledge. I'm not really bothered about paper qualifications but having handled a narrowboat for 2 years I just need a little more confidence with the fact that this boat is bigger and I will be in wider/deeper locks. Searching the forum I have come up with these 2 names - T R Boat Handling & Centenary Narrowboat. Can anyone recommend either of these 2 and are there any others near Derby that I should consider. Thanks in advance
