  1. I'm still using a cut up wagon tarp canopy made in 2006, a tried contact adhesive too glue in something windows, didnt work so riveted them in place using 3mm pop rivets with 12mm od washers. I have made a proper zipped canopy in the past, with proper fittings, got the bits for a new one, just la king a round tuit!
  2. Daughter has a birch tree in garden, she says lots of small twigs drop off, collected and bundled into faggots, they make great firelighters.
  3. Eastwood to Stoodley Pike.

  4. Aluminiub boat? Lemsip? Whisky!
  5. Horse drawn boat at Warland swing bridge

  6. fairy nuff! my misunderstanding. Was the link published illegally or was it just that Cart hadn't published it officially. Is it illegal to post links with out permission?
  7. I'd find it easier to take a pic then keep a paper log, the phone is always in my pocket and will gps tag the pic. What's your cruising pattern, are you progressing in one direction or staying within one area, do the new parish (or whatever they are called) maps not help?
  8. Don't understand the bit about "wardens range" but anyway how else do you easily prove you are cruising just on the right side of the guidelines?
  9. Good news, the shop at the Lockie cottage, Summit West, is open again, for groceries, drinks, sometimes homemade bread, and friendly banter. Open 4.30-9.0 pm
  10. ....but if you make like Harry Potter and go through Diagon Alley?
  11. a cunning linguist would get past the mods
  12. I'm an inverterate skip rooter! Found a Brass Lucas Headlamp in need of small repairs last week at Stanley Ferry, an other time I've found a kettle, a Pulpit rail and folding "captain's" seat" at the same time. Loads of timber etc recycled from skips. My mate fished out a 20 amp battery charger, just when his had died, also small folding solar panel, from the rubbish at Sowerby Bridge. What's your most impressive find?
  13. I'd go trent and misery. macclesfield, ashton and peak forest, Rochdale, Calder and hebble, Aire, L&L. I've done the journey round clockwise in my 22ft cruiser from the summit of the Rochdale. Afaik the journey via Rochdale canal is quicker than going via wigan L&L to saltaire. You wont manage the calder and hebble unless your boat is less than 60ft though. have fun. edited cos I forgot a bit!
  14. I am having discussions with swmbo after our trip out. If lock gates don't shut when leaving a lock i leave them, if it leaks it will shut itself. However swmbo tries a few times to close them. To save us timer and trouble perhaps they could be signed as swingers, perhaps by placing a teapot on the beam?

  16. Tuel Lane deep lock, Sowerby Bridge. Deepest lock in UK, followed by a tunnel.

  17. Sharp pointy walking poles carried at a jaunty angle keep em away. Sharp wit too.... How much did you pay for that bike? And you can't afford a bell? If you can't afford a bell, shout "ding ding"! Won't your mum let you ride on roads now she's taken your stabilisers off?
  18. Try freecycle / freegle to get rid of useful trash, post what's on offer and someone will collect and use it. Also great if you are looking for something.
  19. I'm a gr'ocer' , exempt us grocer's's.
  20. Aldi has moisture meters, stove thermometers and glass cleaners in now. Saw it in the Aldi thread, bought a glass cleaner cos I already have the other two. I also agree that anything dry, 16% moisture, will burn in a stove.
