  2. For goodness sake! It was a crap photo posted for a bit of fun..for the most part it's been successful in lightening the mood on here. It's just a silly, fun thread....remember them? We used to have them a while ago with no problems... Why the need to take it so seriously and start arguments? Can we all just chill out a little? Janet

  4. Here you go Woodstock...a picture of a heron, in focus and perched on a lock gate. Taken on the GU. Had to shoo the bugger off before we opened the gates... Now please stop being such a grump! Sheesh, it's Spring, the sun's out and you just want to whinge about us on here having a bit of a laugh? Go Google the word "fun"...you may learn something new! ..now, back to the playground and some much needed giggles. Janet
  5. I'm sure Tree is absolutely lovely and I don't mean this as a personal insult, but I simply cannot read her posts without getting intensely irritated at the silly and childish writing style. She's a grown woman, is she not? Most of us on this forum are grown ups and can talk grown up language... "Tankies very muchly...?" ... sounds like a three year old...and as for "moi" all the time? It interrupts the flow of her posts and makes them uncomfortable to read. I've had to read some of her posts several times to understand what she was going on about before, thankfully, I discovered the ignore button...up until then I only had one member on ignore... There are some folks on here who suffer from dyslexia and various learning conditions and they still manage to post sensible, understandable posts. It's really not fair to expect other forum members to have to try and make sense of your childish ramblings... It says a lot that there are several members who have you on "ignore" You've got a lot to contribute...stop the silly, childish talk and engage with us as a normal human! Janet
  6. Perfectly on topic as far as I can see. Janet
  7. If it's going to take a while for you to get there, perhaps give a general location and then forum members can PM you if they are close by. There are a lot of very reliable and trustworthy forum members on here. Better that someone goes out and secures it asap if C&RT haven't done it. Janet
  8. Great report...thoroughly enjoyed reading it and reliving our trips down there. Keep 'em coming! Janet
  9. Sorry to hear this...wishing you all the best for the future, whatever it may bring. Janet
  10. Having watched the first episode which I found quite delightful, I've just watched the Rochdale one...despite the glaring continuity errors, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Having done the Rochdale Canal on several occasions with several different boats and not likely to be boating again for a long time (unless someone wants to let us borrow a boat?) I found it lovely to watch and by watching it, was able to remember our trips and sit on the sofa telling my son...."I've been there!" I was a bit concerned about their use of ropes in locks, walking on the roof (son) and climbing lock ladders...I don't recall us ever having to rope up in a lock on the Rochdale (maybe we did the first time? I simply can't remember) and I certainly don't recall instances of using lock ladders except on very rare occasions....we usually pull into the side to dump my OCM to prepare the lock, whilst I try and hover elegantly until it's ready. We only use lock ladders in emergencies, and with a crew of two, seem to manage just fine. Still, a very enjoyable programme and I'm looking forward to the next. Janet

  14. Sorry...I was only made aware of it today...didn't realise it had already been posted. Janet
  15. Sad news... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-25598215 Janet
  16. Thank you for posting that...absolutely fascinating. I too would like to know more about the boat and the crew. Very strange to see the town centres of Burnley and Skipton as I remember them from my teenage years! Well worth watching! Janet
  17. I don't see any homophobia in that comment. Janet
  18. I'm very much enjoying reading this! Thanks for taking the time...most interesting. Janet
  19. I'm sure Tree is absolutely adorable in real life...she comes across as a great character and someone who I hope to meet up with at some point! However, her style of posting leaves a little bit to be desired and she makes the reading of her posts more difficult than it ought to be. No offence meant but the constant "moi" is bloody annoying! "I" or "me" would be more appropriate...I really, really don't want to put a valued member on "block" but I know I'm not the only forum member who feels this way.... Sorry Tree, but until you say "me" or "I" instead of that bloody annoying "moi" I'm going to have to opt out of viewing your posts! Janet
  20. Had a large Staffie type dog stuck in one of the gate sluices on the Gargrave flight last October...bit tragic really, as the friend of the owner who was walking it was still there as it was swallowed down and trapped after jumping or falling in...there was absolutely nothing he could do... ...despite draining the lock, it wasn't recovered and removed until the next morning. After seeing just how stuck it was, I don't like to think about how they finally managed to get it out...I didn't stay around to watch... Janet
