  1. Nor me, but I don't rate Sterling stuff very highly - sort of the 'Ford Fiesta' of the electronics world
  2. I suppose it depends if you consider Sterling as being 'crap' They commonly use up to 4Ah just to 'run themselves'
  3. Their UK GBP distributor price is a little higher than the Euro price. Victron | Energy Solutions | Energy Solutions (es-store.co.uk) Multiplus 12/1600/70 UK £812.70 EU Euro 806
  4. I'm wondering if it means that the switch is in the negative wire (rather than the more usual positive wire) and the pump becomes 'live' when switching on via the negative wire. ?
  5. I've mentioned this before - I bought 'low light' panels from Bimble, on asking what was 'low light' about them they explained that they were ex-Scandinavian panels and have been designed to pick up light at lower angles of incidence (not 'low light' levels - dusk or dawn etc) found in the higher latitudes and in 'our' latitudes during Winter. I have no idea if this is achived by having the panels built at different (lower) angles or if it is some technology. Certainly seem to have more output that standard panels did, but no longer have any 'old' panels to compare them to. 120 volt, 170 watt panels, this was a single 170w panel on a fine February day, batteries virtually full but still putting 3.3 amps (47 watts) in, and 10.8 amps (151 watts) in June
  6. And, in the real world every sewage works outlet consists of a high content of untreated sewage (and may of them empty directly into the canals and rivers) The one I have most experience of is Stoke Bardolph ( as we were based on the Trent for several years), when ever you pass you always see : 1) A scum on the water 2) Large numbers of sea birds and ducks swimming around enjoying the 'easy pickings'. Exclusive: water firms discharged raw sewage into England's rivers 200,000 times in 2019 The analysis reveals untreated human waste was released into streams and rivers for more than 1.5m hours in 2019. “People think our rivers should be fit to swim in but they don’t realise it is legal to discharge untreated raw sewage into our rivers.” Exclusive: water firms discharged raw sewage into England's rivers 200,000 times in 2019 | Rivers | The Guardian

  9. Times are certainly changing ................... a very dated 40 year old, 40 foot NB for £30,000. 5 years ago I bought a 15 year old 'modern' boat for the same amount.

  11. Agreed - can find nothing about 'spacing' in ISO 13297 (AC Electrical Systems for Small Craft)
  12. Already discussed, only about 12 posts ago (sorry - no post numbers on this forum)
  13. It may not be common, but our household input IS 3-phase. When we had it built we wanted to future proof it for any electrical demands.
  14. Lucozade tradionally had the wider 'mouth' so easier to get the poop into.
  15. Since you raised the subject - it is also a requirement in ISO 13297 (AC Electrical Systems for Small Craft) to have double-pole breakers in the shore line supply (7:2:1) How many do ?
  16. Those very anomolies were the reason I asked if he had considered a houseboat rather than a 'canal boat', but the answer was the mooring he has secured has no facilities. Maybe he plans to 'pump-out' from one end of the boat, and 'pump-in' at the other end.
  17. I believe that there is legislation that states that the minimum distance between two sockets on different phases / power sources must be a minimum of 2 metres apart to ensure that one person cannot touch both at the same time.
  18. His sheep were rubbing up against the hen house doors and rubbed the bolt back, the door came open and in walked the fox.
  19. The problem with chicken manure is the high levels of ammonia which is VERY bad for the environment. When chickens excrete, the resulting manure is rich in nitrogen, especially the uric acid which is the chicken's equivalent of urine. When manure becomes wet, the nitrogen within decomposes (known as volatilization), and produces a gas called ammonia, which gives off a pungent smell. Air pollutants like ammonia (NH3) are the other type of gaseous emissions from agriculture. They are not greenhouse gases, but they do negatively impacts on human and animal health while also damaging ecosystems. Are you by any chance Clarkson's neighbour ?
