  1. Only if the batteries are of the type to be used in domestic solar installations. Which will rule out 99% of boat batteries 😉
  2. Forty years ago I had dinner with Tony Bennett and as a bonus he drew a sketch of me 😎
  3. What happens if you leave a lithium polymer battery on charge. Fire starts at 20mins in.
  4. As said elsewhere burning wood is not good for the environment. Burning HVO or e-Coal is just about acceptable as they have less emissions 🤔
  5. If you have no other savings then this https://www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk/member/product/savings/limited_access/triple-access-saver-online-2.html You get first £1000 interest free. If you have more than £1000 interest a year coming in already then this https://www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk/member/product/savings/cash_isa/four-access-isa-online.html Provided of course you don't already have an isa in this tax year
  6. Not per year. I believe it's 6%per annum
  7. That's where a 22 air pistol comes in very very useful😱
  8. Don't forget the fact that you, at present rates, can get over 5% interest per annum tax free on the capital if you don't pay in advance.
  9. How will warm water and it will be warm effectively cool the reduction box?

  13. Semantics! Gear box / reduction box doesn't matter cooling principle is the same. i.e. removing heat by using cold water.
  14. Yes The reduction box needs cold water whereas the engine can cope with the slightly raised temperature. Are you sure the pipes on the reduction box are for water and are not oil pipes to be fitted to a heat exchanger like this? That is a really a hybrid install that uses a skin tank as well, it was later converted to full HE cooling
  15. Just plumb them in series like everyone else does. It's done that way for a reason 🤔
  16. Even down the Nene it's up at that rate. And the Nene was cheap.
  17. You need to find out if it is a BOAT (Bridleway Open to All Traffic) it could be that it's not and no traffic is allowed down there 😱
  18. When I first moved to Bourne End the canal bridge was full width and IIRC with a 7.5T limit on it. A while later the limit was reduced to 3.5T and the bridge was narrowed by fitting a raised kerb which made it difficult for larger vehicles. Could be worth enquiring if similar can be done there. It does have a crack that to my knowledge has been there best part of 30 years 😱
  19. Been there got the T shirt. Sold it to Graham 20 years ago.
  20. Why mess about with push bikes? One of these was what I used to use to get back to the car😉 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386716993667? I believe they now do electric ones 😱

  22. When towing the caravan my alternator switches when it detects the caravan is there from being intelligent to being a dumb 14.4v alternator. There was no hardware added when the towbar was fitted merely some reprogramming of the ECU. Is there a reason why an RV couldn't be reprogrammed to take account if the extra load when charging a Li battery in the same way my car does. Thinking about this as it stands an intelligent alternator is not going to fully charge an extra 100Ah LA battery so they must already reprogram or similar when fitting an extra battery. It's been interesting watching the alternator voltage curve when in intelligent mode, most of the time it sits, as you say, at about 13v however when on engine overrun/braking it reaches 14.4v that's about the only time it does apart from when the vehicle is first started.
