  1. Dogs that do a "job" could be licenced in the same way that guns are.....strictly. I don't "hate" dogs as you put it just there irresponsible owners.
  2. I view dogs in the UK as the same sort of problem as guns are in the USA. Some owners are fine others are not. Unfortuately both the NRA and dog lovers lobbies over here are to strong to get the weapons (guns and dogs) banned in their respective countries. ETA there have been 2 murders by dog this week but the owners wont be prosecuted for that or even manslaughter.
  3. Tring Anglers http://tringanglers.org.uk/ are responsible for that section, you need a permit from them to fish so it is down to them to enforce no fishing areas or did you mean CRT warden? At local user group meetings they were always very helpful in resolving problems, but it works both ways. The length from the bridge was certainly still no mooring 14 years ago, good luck with trying to find any documents the rule change if done whilst CC was waterway manager would be about 25 years ago, consultation you are avin a larf:)
  4. Twenty years ago it always was fishemen only on that first bit, so nothing new. that's why you would never see the big carp in that area except during the close season

  6. you'll have to be quick we are off cruising soon. 7pm tomorrow?
  7. I have one of his. Good quality, allthough a couple of the design features I didn't agree with so he modified them to take my ideas into account. Been on a year or so.
  8. Whilst the history is correct in my nichs the B&F stops at Fazeley and the Cov goes all the way through and that was in 1991.
  9. So why do most recent resources that I have seen refer to the whole thing as the Coventry canal. Bloody laziness I suppose, just like the canal between Braunston and Wigrams is called the GU when it isn't. What is going on in the photo?
  10. Is my memory playing tricks? As far as I remember the B&F canal started at Fradley and went to Birmingham. Recent books have the first part from Fradley to Fazeley as the Coventry canal when did this change happen?
  11. It shouldn't be odd schemes it should be blanket over the whole network. Its not the £20 that will being in money but the £6 second night that should. Thames landowners make money on their charges, A large part of SRB moorings business is coleecting fees for landowners round the Henley area, So it can be done. Better might be £6 first night second night free........ I know you don't agree but having boated on the Thames for years I do feel its a missed oppotunity by CRT charging for VM.
  12. There used to be a boat fitters (Phoenix) behind the nightclub as well. Suddenly had to up sticks and leave, neverdid get the real reason why. Loddon is one of theirs.
  13. Really ALL VMs should be charged for as they are on other navigations. Problem is cheapskate whinging boaters not willing to put their hands in their pockets. First night free Second night £6 Third night and beyond £20 a night. The charge has to be as high as £20 to make it uneconomical to use a VM as your "home base". There are still many miles of towpath available for 14day stays. As for is there a need, yes there is, CRT need cash to get on with repairs and dredging, the canals round here are in a worse state than they were 20+ years ago and getting worse.

  19. Simple way is to fit a trolling valve to the gearbox, provided it will take one. Did this on PRM500 worked a treat set engine revs then use valve as throttle. From memory max revs about 1300. http://www.prm-newage.com/p14-prm500
  20. Simplest way of dealing with a 32a outlet to 16a inlet is a 32a plug ct a short length of 6mm cable to waterproof box with 16a DP MCB in the box and then a 16a socket. You could use 16a RCBO instead of MCB if you really want a delux jobbie. All legal and safe.
  21. Since unlike many I dont do blame I'm blaming nothing, I just prefer 230v fridges. The combi fault is an interesting one though as the inverter works fine and switches when it should, unfortuately I never notice when it goes off, its happened twice to my knowledge, once while we were away over xmas and the Eberspacher flattened the batteries and destroyed itself by killing its combustion motor.
  22. Whilst this is true on our moorings we occasionally get power glitches and the charger doesn't always come back on, it appears to be OK but is doing nothing, cycle the power switch and its back on. When this happens the fridge being 230v doesn't drain the batteries, last week the charger was off for 4 days we only used 7% of our batteries it was only by chance that I looked at SG to see it reading 93....
  23. One of the reasons I will always go 230v is that when on the moorings, which is more time than cruising its run off the shore power so no battery drain.
  24. The ones we use are magnetic so not A4/316didn't check the spec of the ones in the link just the type of bolt.
