  3. Also if you look at the customer comments on Amazon someone reported a similar switch failure in June? with a couple of photos.

  5. My welding has been described as "dog poo".
  6. Whilst it may have existed it was unheard of 23 years ago.
  7. Co- incidentally having read this post a few days ago I saw my neighbours son doing some MIG welding yesterday. Seemingly he got his gas from Hobby-Weld. His dad was not sure of the size but the indefinite hire of the cylinder is £70 (refundable) and gas £50 a refill..
  8. Never really got to the bottom of it. At the time i was fitting it out and wasn't permanently plugged in (only when I was using 230v tools etc on extension leads). I suspect it was a nearby, fairly new, Colecraft with liveaboards. The strangest thing was that on one side about 6" above the baseplate there was a perfect 'pit' in the form of a cross exactly as one would imagine a fabricator marking a spot with a sharp instrument such a file or screwdriver. The hull had been blacked from new by the builder. I sat on a low stool with a welder, a grinder with a wire wheel and another grinder with a grinding wheel for two days. Quite enjoyed myself.😇
  9. For what it's worth, having experienced significant pitting on a 4 to 5 year old boat around the year 2000. (approx 1.5 to 2 mm on 6 mm sides) I would go down the blast and pit weld route. That's what I did. A hull survey this time last year found nothing below 5.7 mm.
  10. Could be. My Squirrel always ran on smokeless.
  11. If it gets "tricky" and the studs shear carefully drill the stubs out and through the door. Tap to the smallest size possible and insert bolts from the outside to a suitable depth (I used a dab of thread sealer).Cut off the bolt head flush with the outside of the door. I did mine years and years ago. I used stainless steel nuts and bolts and subsequent glass replacement was simple and straightforward.
  12. Don't screw the dipstick in and read the lower line as the full mark.
  13. I used have two pumps on a yacht I had. Yes, I could have kept one in a locker as a spare but who has ever heard of a pump failing at a convenient time. Space constraints prevented me replicating the setup on my nb.
  14. You don't!. 1) Bolt gearbox to casting. 2) Bolt casting to engine
  15. Not really. There are a hell of a lot more humans than there ever have been before.
  16. "The Guy" who said "would take 2 to 3 days", is this the person you've not heard from since?
  17. Given that your level of expertise is that you don't even know thick the ply needs to be how do you arrive at the statement "it's a three day job"
  18. |Bare in mind that EV headlights (and the others ) are LED. A/C is a far more demanding load. I far prefer opening my sunroof. The biggest parasitic drain is the heater.
  19. Rubbish. Red oxide is fine as a primer but as a paint?? Dependant upon circumstances I would use something like Hammerite Smooth
  20. Whenever I've adopted the stance I am trying for the icy glare of disapproval impression.
  21. That was my first thought also. The second was what about a bald/ almost bald thread?.
