Rufford Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Where is the best place/person to get a Northwich style chimney from? I could do with two.
Ray T Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 May seem a dumb question but does a Northwich style chimney look like any of these?
IanM Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 I wouldn't have thought Yarwoods bothered making their own style of chimney and that they were much the same as any other.
Rufford Posted August 5, 2015 Author Report Posted August 5, 2015 OK then you pedantic boat people, can someone furnish me with a contact number for someone who makes decent and quality traditional chimneys. I believe someone had one made a few years ago by a fellow forum member?
IanM Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Wasn't trying to be pedantic, merely suggesting that you search for any traditional looking boat chimney rather than a specific Northwich style one as you might find it easier.
Rufford Posted August 5, 2015 Author Report Posted August 5, 2015 I just want a nice quality chimney, the ones in the swindlers seem a bit thin...
Suzie_q Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Past this guys boat a few weeks ago on the Birmingham and Fradley. Have no connection except I liked the look of the products on display. Www.littlechimneycompany.co.uk
Ray T Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Simon Wain of Brinklow boats make "proper" riveted chimneys Photo of one beside a MC one: Brinklow boats: http://brinklowboatservices.com/ I believe Andy on Dove makes them as well. Hope you have long arms and short pockets, a quality one ain't cheap. Edited August 5, 2015 by Ray T
ChimneyChain Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Mike Pinnock on Emu makes them as well. Darren
mark99 Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Mike Pinnock on Emu makes them as well. Darren This is one of his.
Laurence Hogg Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Where is the best place/person to get a Northwich style chimney from? I could do with two. No such thing as such. Yarwoods used a collar with an odd diameter which from memory was 5.25" as against the standard 6" and small 4 3/4" collars. I wouldn't have thought Yarwoods bothered making their own style of chimney and that they were much the same as any other. Yarwoods had a foundry and made many of their standard parts themselves, including the chimney collars. On a supplier, I would recommend Micheal Pinnock. Edited August 5, 2015 by Laurence Hogg
