Winter Boat hire

Hello All have been a long time since i have been on this forum....so much so that i cannot remember my old log in details.

 

I have an urge at the moment to book a hire Boat for a few Days next Month ( Novemeber)

anyway i cannot seem to find many companies that hire out over the winter online....

i was looking for North west/ staffs areas if possible?

 

any ideas folks?

From November to March it's more important to know where you can go rather than where you want to go as you will be into the winter stoppages. Check the CRT website for stoppages to make sure that even if you hire a boat you have a viable route. The boatyard should know but personally I would do my own checks.

Have a look at canal cruising in Stone. A great town to start and finish from as well as good cruising and wonderful people to deal with!

Look for areas with no winter stoppages so that your cruising area is not restricted. This list can be found on the CRT website.

A few years ago we hired a boat from Anglo Welsh in early December. We went from the base in Wooton Warwen. We asked for a boat with a multifuel stove and they threw in a bag of coal.

Star Narrowboat Holidays offer all year hires - the prices are kept the same all year. Based in the North West on the Bridgewater canal.

Chas Hardern at Beeston hire out all year round. Cruising before Christmas is on the Shroppie only due to stoppages.
