The met office has now gone amber on its rainfall warnings for th north of England and central belt of Scotland for rainfall on to already saturated ground this weekend.

The Cumbria rivers are already full, the Lancaster and Yorkshire ones high, and this could affect as far South as the Trent.

Stay safe all.

Given the rain here at the top of the canal / hill, I'd expect the Calder and Hebble flood locks to be shut beyond Brighouse / Mirfield etc. Rochdale Canal Summit level is full to the brim, cascading over the lock gates at each end.

AFAIK the C&H floodgates have been closed since last Monday, and not much chance of opening in the near future. There'll not be much movement on the C&H this winter anyway, with various overlapping stoppages in place.
