Milton Keynes to Gloucester - which route?

Featured Posts

Until such time as they get the Avon/GU link built I would go

MK

GU to top of Hatton

up Lapworth to Kings Norton Junction

Turn left down Tardebigge to Worcester

Down the Severn to Gloucester.

Easily done in a week

I did Worcester to MK in 4 days single handed one summer.

ETA you get two of the big lock flights going that way

We went from MK via Braunston, Hatton, Lapworth North, Kings Norton, Tardebigge, and Worcester this year. Just the two of us, total travelling time 61 hours spread over 10 days from Woolstones to Gloucester Docks, and a very enjoyable trip it was too.

Depends how long you have, we did it last year the shortest route, GU to Lapworth, Southern Stratford, River Avon River Severn. All was a delight. Had to wait a couple of days in Stratford for river levels n the Avon to go down.

The Severn is a bit boring but you wil have that whichever way you go (assuming you don't fancy the K & A and the tidal passage)

Once in Gloucester make time to do the Gloucester & Sharpness and visit Slimbridge and the Purton Hulks!
