Blurry 'ell, he'll take over the marina(s) or block the entrance. Which of the two marinae is he going to moor in (not that it's any of my business, you understand) but he might block my TV signal when I visit.....

Oh, I thought the limit was 35 tons. It must have stout straps!!

If he doesn't mind the trip then it's the best place as the access is good and the apron is substantial. It used to be an EA yard so constructed to a standard....

Hi

Dunno exactly where he is going. Its only a piddly fifty footer and not very great air draft so yall still get yer telly biggrin.png

He's probably going to join the gaggle of CMers opposite Christ Church meadows, several BB boats there already.

Well, slap my wrists for such an uncharitable thought.

(The irony in that is, the CC moorings are very pretty with constant views of punters (literally) behaving badly, whereas the two marinas have no views at all. We'll be up that way in May - so will find out!

Cool. I myself will be down the Oxford ditch at my new mooring in about three weeks time. We are great buddies so he and I are both moving down there, I bought a narrowboat to enable me the freedom of movement but he opted to keep his barge and so is encountering many thousands of pounds outlay which of course is his choice. May c u down there for alcoholic beverages. biggrin.png

AND you need a girt big crane at either end. probably not a problem 'oop north', but there aren't many locations on the Thames who have the space for that size of job.

Shepperton's crane isn't big enough. Probably too big for T&K's travel lift.

Might be able to get working space at EA's yard at Sunbury.

Nowt further upstream - except possibly at Eynsham - but methinks the access could be a challenge and its resident crane isn't (?) big enough. However, there are several dutch barges moored outside and they have got there somehow. I assume none were low enough to get under Osney.

EA do have a yard by Osney lock that ought to be able to handle it. Such a load will cause havoc for folk getting in and out of the City......[/quot

Simple delivery between ten pm and five am

The police don't do this any more do they?

Its up to the company providing the transport to provide the escort vehicle where required, happy to be corrected but I cant recall the last time I saw a police vehicle escorting a large load.

The police stopped providing escort services about ten years ago unless you happen to be a judge or barrister...

Oh, you mean for lorries...my mistake ;-)
