keble
Just heard that Ben Selfe has died. He was a very well-known and well-loved character in this (Gloucester) area. At one time he had a rope business Knot Krazy, from the butty Lyra. He was also a BSS examiner. www.knotkrazy.co.uk A really great guy, always willing to help. Titan
A big loss to boating especially those in Gloucestershire, he welcomed me and my broken boat, made me tea and made me smile. Told me quickly when I was going about things the incorrect way !!! Sad day.
magpie patrick
Sorry to hear this, I was thinking of Ben the other day as Lutine had her BSS, Ben used to do Ripple's at Saul Junction. He had a good line in slightly contemptuous wit that could leave people wrong footed, and he had a generous heart. RIP Ben
c c
A cup of tea with Ben on his boat left your problems outside, and then success with a first ever attempt at ropework.

Janet S
I've shamelessly pinched this from Facebook...I'm pretty sure the organisers won't mind.
Rob@BSSOffice
I've shamelessly pinched this from Facebook...I'm pretty sure the organisers won't mind. Wishing everyone the best who is participating today. Ben is greatly missed by the BSS Office team. A true gentleman and very entertaining character. I had many lovely conversations with Ben over the years and was very sorry when he announced his retirement on health reasons earlier in the year.
