Noah T
After lurking for quite a while, I'd like to say hi to all on these forums. Browsing through the threads here has provided me with invaluable insights which I've eventually put to - hopefully good - use, in choosing (& buying) a boat. She's a 50' Wessex ex-hire boat, made in '03. Her interior will need a bit of work, and she'd benefit from a paint job, but that's for the next few months. Right now I'm looking forward to bringing her down from Gayton, where she is at the moment, to the London area, and then enjoying some time on the G.U. and the River Lea. So anyway, thanks for the info that I've acquired so far from forum members posts, and in advance for advice that I'll no doubt be seeking as the delights and pitfalls of boating emerge into reality. Phil Ambrose
Hi Noah, glad you joined us, though I guess as you've been guesting for a while you know a fair bit about us. Good luck with your boat now and for the future. Phil

Noah T
Thanks for making me feel welcome . When are you moving your boat? It looks like I'll be collecting her next Saturday. As I can't get much time off work at the moment, the plan is to move her down the Grand Union towards London over a few weekends.
bizzard
Welcome Noah. Beware of getting stranded high and dry on the top of Mount Ararat. The view from up there must be very boring when the waters gone, just sand and more sand, sand forever. Edited August 10, 2014 by bizzard
Noah T
Welcome Noah. Beware of getting stranded high and dry on the top of Mount Ararat. The view from up there must be very boring when the waters gone, just sand and more sand, sand forever. Thanks Bizzard. As it happens I have once been to Mt Ararat, by bicycle. The view was very pleasant and it is near a very nice pub. Though I have to admit, it was not the mountain in Turkey, but a slightly less impressive grassy knoll on the Isle of Wight by the same name. Fortunately or otherwise, I don't think I'll have to take too much evasive action to avoid arriving by narrowboat at either of these prominences - unless we get much more of the weather we were having in London this morning!
