Did you see the building of the biggest container ship on Quest? A fleet of them are being built in South Korea and they use Jotun 2 pack paint. So if it is good enough for them it is good enough for all you boat people.

Not necessarily. The operating environment for Emma Maersk and her sisters is completely different to a canal. Not much abrasion in the oceans; salt water, not fresh/brackish water; extremes of water temperature on some routes; extended docking periods driven by money and the demands of "class" rules. Very much higher speeds. Guaranteed preparation standards ( if Maersk's overseer is watching perhaps?).

 

Two-pack epoxy pitch is IMHO the best stuff to black with, but there are lots of varieties available so a bit of research is needed. If money is tight a 3-yearly or even 4 yearly blacking may still be the most economical way to preserve your tub.
