Lanterns

I believe that any appliance that uses / contains a 'portable' gas csrtridge is very much frowned upon.

When you change a cartridge there is a 'Psssst' of gas which will settle in the bottom of your boat, this will build up over time until one day it goes BOOOOOM

Lamps & Lanterns can get knocked over

All sorts of issues.

Use 'lectricity, 1000's of boaters cannot be wrong.

P.S. I have several, the only drawback is the paraffin seems to be about ten quid for two litres. Anyone know where to buy paraffin at a sensible price these days??

Hmmm ...... I dunno about that - there must be quite a few who have got cassette bogs.......rolleyes.gif

I agree. Lectricity is for people with no soul....

Gas lamps, oil lamps and Tilley lamps ROOL ok!

Mike - try B+Q they do a parafin for greenhouse heaters - it seemed cheaper than you say and seems to burn clean.

Having googled "unleaded-coleman multifuel" I think we need to sort out if we are talking cooking appliances or contraptions for the purposes of illumination....

Dual fuel lanterns mostly use petrol or coleman fuel - the characteristics of which are similar to errr... petrol. So if you're concerned about the safety aspects of storing the fuel Tilley or Bialaddin is better. But, as others have said, electricity is much safer in use.
