That's the very beast. It was about half a mile upstream of Ely when I passed it this morning.

He was doing a very good job of keeping it straight to be fair but I'm glad we didn't meet at a bridge.

OT but is that your shiny white roof? Do you find you get snow blind? I had a white undercoat on my roof for a little while and moving in the sun was absolute hell.

Not really, to be honest I find when the sun is low the reflection off the water is more of a problem than the roof.

I've been aboard and its actually quite nice inside. Some interesting features. A good cup of tea too! And he made it from scratch.

Hmm, I wonder what is different about either our boats or our eyes that makes it a problem for me but not for you.

 

Just a thought but mine is painted with non-slip paint so it will not be as reflective as a smooth gloss finish.

The houseboat is now moored in Cambridge, on what appears to be someone's private land, opposite Jesus Green. No idea how they wangled that, it's a very good spot!

That's probably it. Means that pale non-slip is possibly the best of both worlds, cool in the sun but no problems with glare.
