wimalim
hello, We are looking to buy a new NB hull once our boat is sold. Now after having had a look around we've noticed that most boatbuilders are pretty far away from us. Are there any boatbuilders within 60miles of Leighton Buzzard? cheers, Wim

David Schweizer
Roger Farrington in Braunston. Chris G Agreed, and one of the best you will find. Roger trades under the name Ivy Bridge Marine, contact Maureen Farrington on 01327 704847 (evenings) for more information. Do not be put off by Roger's gruff, almost indifferent approach, once he realises you are serious about building a shell he will open up. One other word of warning, he is only happy building traditional shells, so if you want a cruiser stern he may not be too keen.
nicknorman
Does Roger do fitouts or just shells? Anyway, for a more "mainstream" builder you might consider Colecraft at Long Itchington, 48 miles from LB. They have been trading for a very long time and make competant, if slightly dull, boats. Also Brinklow Boat Services in Rugby, similar distance. Good reputation and nice boats. I think it may depend on when you want your boat. Colecraft are likely to be able to put one out sooner than the other two because they are more of a production line operation, whereas the others tend to build 1 boat at a time I think. Roger only builds shells, but Wharf House next door does fit-outs. To elaborate on David's comments, he also builds slightly unusual boats if asked - such as Wendy Jane 2 and Batavia. David Schweizer
What about trad narrow boat style widebeams, say 65' x 11' ? I am pretty certain he would build one, he has certainly re-bottomed and re-footed several old widebeams.

KJT
Kingsground narrowboats also make fine craft. I think they are within your specified radius.
