Is anyone moored at Castlefield, Manchester?

How busy is it? Is there any space?

Or is it full of boats going to the Olympic Football?

and any news on the police boat search...do they just pop in and check for missile launchers or is it an unpleasant and intrusive search????

Hope to arrive tomorrow or the day after.

I know what you mean, but if a search is not intrusive it's not really a search. Ideally there would be an explosive dog involved so it should be quick and easy.

Yes, I know. It's the type of dogfood they use, or so I'm told

Castlefield basin looked pretty busy yesterday afternoon lots of boats moored up

Also Portland basin up the Rochdale 9 was pretty busy too

Piccadilly Basin? Unless Portland Basin has moved since last week! :)

Presumably busier than ever due to Rochdale 9 closure?

I have seen no update to last week's stoppage notice, but I understand the Rochdale Nine has now re-opened.

Arrived in Castlefields at mid day today.

Its pretty full but still a couple of spaces left.

Its not an Olympic match day but there was absolutely no sign of increased security at Old Trafford.

I would expect a few Olympic visitors might walk into Manchester along the towpath so was a bit surprised that the graffiti has not been removed (or replaced with better quality stuff).

Saw a single person litter picking.

The grass on the towpath has been cut recently so no sign of the superb display of orchids that was there a few weeks ago.

As this is our second visit to Castlefield this month I now realise that a few of the boats here (the ones with stuff on the roof) are "permanent".

Its rather nice, it feels a bit like back home on the K&A !!!!
