  1. that marina is Black water meadow marina in Ellsmere Shrops yes id advise Anderton or black prince to do your change over.
  2. Yup looks like an Alvechurch boat. Would really like to no weather there was a lock keeper on duty or not though
  3. You do have a fair point. Most of the bigger hire companies have got so many boats being turned around they dont have the time to show them how to work locks etc. ESP with the Llangollen if you hire from Anglowelsh at Trevor or black prince at Chirk abc at Ellsmere there are no near locks for them to take the hirers through. So when theses hirers get to the locks they just use it as they think. Which is wot I done when we first hired from Ellsmere back in 2007 but I'd watch videos on YouTube & online advice so knew the dangers and briefly how to work them
  4. It's getting worse. It's only up the road from me.
  5. as I often pass through Preston brook & dutton stop lock I often think is there any point to that lock actually being there?
  6. Not Again.... So sad to hear of all these cillings. Anyone no wot boat it is? Also when was cruising the Llangollen back in may there was a lock keeper on way up & down!
  7. Its very Sad. Didn't realise BW sold off all the tools. And left staff without windlasses???
  8. I untied from a wharf once after getting a pump out deseil etc & picked up an electric cable the boat yard had left & had fell in the cut. It was a while before I realised when the engine stopped dead. After a few words wiv the yard manager he made one of the lads get it off the prop took them just over 3 hours to do

  16. After our previous trip onboard Canal boat escapes moving Eleanor Rose from Wakefield as it has been stuck there due to the river being in the red. I had to move it back to Silsden for them. Anyway i have never crusied the L&L canal before. and once out of Leeds it real is stunning. So I spoke to Richardh from canal boat escapes and he had avaiable for the weekend his Tim Tyler 50ft tug Isabel. so i snatch it of him. and after work on Friday we headed to Lower park marina in Barnoldswick We meet Richard them and boarded this wonderful boat. it really is 5 star. a real head turner. We decided as it was nearly 6pm we wouldnt move that night but stay on the marina and drive into the village itself for a meal etc. Sat morning we awoke around 8am as a few boats had returned from a weeks holiday and while we had breakfast we watch Karen & Richard and they staff turning the hire boats around. i also had a nose inside the boats. around 930 we untied. our overall destination was Skipton and return for Tues. I really do love this end of the beautiful rural L&l canal. We soon arived at greenfield locks And was down them in no time at all. and we chuggd along the sun was shining and it really was just perfect. we stopped for a stop of lunch at East Marton. Before heading down new marton locks. once down the locks we was soon at Gargreave locks. while locking down Anchor lock the smell of the food smelt lovely so we decided we would moor up in Gargreave and later on walk back for a few drinks and our tea. the visitor moorings here where full so we locked down and moored just opposite the caravan site below the lock. When we got back from an excellent meal at the anchor inn the boat was sat on the bottom as it is very deep drafted. it was a little uncomfy so we decided as it was a great evening we would move to a better spot. after a few bends we moored right before the aquaduct. and the views were stunning. 18. Love the Llangolleb ESP the stretch from Meres passed Ellsemere right through to Llangollen that's when it gets exciting!
  19. Just came back of the four counties we done it lockwise from Breewood. Excellent trip but as everyone says the Cheshire locks known as heartbreak hill is quite tough & I would get this done & out the way pretty much straight after u leave Middlewich. I would leave Middlewich I presume late afternoon after trail run etc. overnight around wheelock area then have an early start up heartbreak hill to Kidsgrove through the tunnel in the afternoon. Quite a long day but onces its out the way u can slow right. Towns I recommend is Stone penkeridge Breewood market Drayton adluem & Nantwich
  20. Summer wine from Norbury have a few hire boats with Cratches

We are now attempting to move it back to there marina. Really nice boat & can't wait to spend a month onboard in Oct doing the penine ring
