OK,

Can't resist.

Just going through a disc of photos supplied to me relating to "Sickle".

This is before our ownership - honestly!

(Believed to be on the Weaver in 2010)

As the boat on theleft appears to be Sweden, We were moored at Stoke Bruerne a couple of years ago and Sweden was moored in front of us. As a couple of "old dears" passed one said to t'other "Look that boat has come all the way from Sweden".

Answers the question about how to strap Sickle to a much bigger boat...

Yes, but only if it is unconverted and unsheeted.

Not possible for a boat with cloths on, of course.

The other boats are Erewash butty "Cedar", which Sickle was towing around for quite a while, and, as Ray says, Seddon's motor Sweden - a wooden boat.

The butty's mast should in theory be strong enough for towing. I breasted my Dad's 50ft modern boat using my mast on the motor and it held perfectly well. (Without the help of an Anser Pin).

I don't think that they were creating a bow wave

This is Vesta on the Severn near Gloucester back in the 60's

Les Allen (allens of oldbury) said it was carrying a bone in its mouth
