Guest
eh? Maybe I'm being ditsy but what are these for? Also often referred to as anti-vandal keys or water conservation keys - Used for unlocking some of the (hopelessly tiresome) anti vandal locks on some lock gear, and for unlocking most of the person operated swing bridges on the Leeds & Liverpool, amongst others. L plates (car ones will do) magnetic best Never seen that but not a bad idea at all...
Athy
Forgive me if I've missed it, but has anyone mentioned a first aid kit yet? We carry a basic one: aspirins, Dettol, sticking plasters, small scissors. You can buy ready made-up kits in professional-looking boxes. And when you have bought EVERYTHING on these lists: - a butty to tow it all in. - a bank loan.
jelunga
Yes. Some builders include full(ish) cruising kit in the price. Check first No-one has mentioned important things like toilet blue and beer. Think about 12v chargers fur mobile phones, ipods, laptops etc. Always useful to have a women about to do cleaning, cooking and toilet emptying (I wish!) Or a man if you prefer. Men could be less untidy I suppose. Wet and cold weather clothing most important including a suitable hat. Spare distilled water and a toping up dispenser for the batteries. Engine oil and antifreeze for the engine. And something to clear dog poo off your shoes after walking the towpath/linear dog toilet.

Athy
No-one has mentioned important things like toilet blue and beer. Ahem! It was the second thing I mentioned (after the centre rope). I've never tried mixing it with toilet blue, though. I suggest toilet GREEN, it apparently contains fewer nasties, though I'll leave it to the scientists on here to explain which ones! cazberry
Some anti vandal padlocks use the BW key, others use a Handcuff key. the trouble is you wont know which type is used until you get there and find you have the wrong one oh right..thank you! Also often referred to as anti-vandal keys or water conservation keys - Used for unlocking some of the (hopelessly tiresome) anti vandal locks on some lock gear, and for unlocking most of the person operated swing bridges on the Leeds & Liverpool, amongst others. ah...even better now I know what it looks like..thanks MJG

trackman
Just now I can't think of anything to add to the list. However, do check with your boatbuilder exactly what is being supplied with your new boat. Mine came with bow and stern fenders, but none for the sides (to use when mooring, strictly not when boating). It came with a lump hammer and 3 mooring pins, bow, stern and centre lines (only one of the last, and I added a second). It didn't come with chains or hooks for mooring to piling, and one or other is invaluable - much better than pins as has already been said. I use chains, they are less likely to clank noisily as boats pass you, and they don't slip off as some kinds of piling hooks will in some situations. We got 2 sets of keys for engine and doors, but as I recall, no BW key, no anti-vandal keys and no key for the deck fittings that need undoing to refuel or to fill the water tank. I could go on, but the point is made, ask what you're going to get and then buy only what isn't included. Now, I'm sure I'll remember that vital thing no-one else has mentioned, but only after I've posted this!! Whatever, do enjoy the boat.
Notlostyet
we have not paid alot for the boat so they are not suppling anything extra at all but thats fair enough but thankyou for you advice Just now I can't think of anything to add to the list.
