Hi

Can you please advise how do i get a number for my boat ? (index number ?)

In other words, all boats have numbered plates but mine does not, or rather never has...

Am I issued with such a number at first time of licensing or is it a separate application ?

Beleive me, the BW website is not obvious on this point !

Boat's been registered with BW for quite a while but not got these plates, wondered if it's worth chasing them up to get them even though it's just for the aesthitec reason that I like them.

If the boat has been registered with BW then the number should be on the licence that is on/should have come with the boat, unless the previous owner threw them away of course if they had expired. Personally I've never been too keen on those ally plates and have always had my numbers sign-written on my boats (but you could always get plastic stick on numbers from a local print/sign specialist or any of the well-known suppliers of canal related vinyl signs). If you really, really want the actual ally plates then I guess a call to BW's licensing office in Leeds would be worth a go. They might reissue them, who knows.
