stuart
I belive you can still use gas to heat water on a boat. The recommended systems for new installs are ones that are room sealed (ie. they use air from outside to burn through the flue). Although there is some acceptance for older Paloma type heaters due to their excellent safety record.

Graham Bowers
What gear is used nowdays to heat water for the shower ect using gas as the energy source? Could a caravan carver system be used? See my thread on "advice on selecting a shower head". I have seen one room sealed heater from Morco but at the thick end of £500 and needing a 230V AC supply it was not so attractive to me. I saw it here by the way http://www.marcleleisure.co.uk/index.htm Cheers Graham

anthony
Thanks for the info folks. My budget is tight which is why i asked if i could use a modern caravan carver system which is about £300 which is just about my limit. It needs to be safer than safe too. DHutch
we use a good ole paloma... Yeah, same. Its a very nice unit, and has worked faultlessly all its life (15years) - I bealve the morco units are very simular and equally good in use. We also have a calorifyer, which can heat the water using steam from the boiler, or the stove via the central heating loop. Daniel
