  1. I'm sure this has come up before but I can't seem to find it! I think I have the bug in my fuel tank-sluttering/stopping engine, worked ok for a while with new filters, spluttering again 2 days later, fuel unused in the tank for some months etc etc I have heard of Soltron-any good? what about a bug filter(made in NZ and costs about £125-ouch) Help ! Alan
  2. seem to have strayed from the original topic a bit? my multimeter was bought in Maplin last year and has just paid for itself by highlighting a broken battery switch which was causing various things to behave oddly.I just worked around the cicuits until I found the point where 12 volts stopped and 0 volts started.Saved a costly visit to the boatyard at £30 an hour
  3. But if you fit an extending bar wont that get in the way on paddle gear with restricted room round it ?

  10. I think I read somewhere that the americans and most of the rest of the world drive on the right because its something to with which side of the brain is best at spatial whateveritis. And after all only one in seven people is left handed so that doesnt count.
  11. Hello Stu can you let e know if you find one? I will need the same thing next year(am based in Brum) and the nearest I have found is in Telford area who can do it.
  12. I bought the non self adhesive type last year and stuck them on as recommended with silicone sealant. This was fine until this summer when the intense heat caused the adhesive to give up on some parts. I have invested in some stainless steel screws and "penny" washers which means i dont have to worry about the glue giving up ,and i can always take them off if i need to for maintenance. They made a big difference to the noise levels so it was worth fitting them.... i can now hear what fishermen shout at me when i go over their rods as i never swerve round them.
  13. Hi Carrie I seem to remember from my organic chemistry at school that you get methane as well not just heat, but it was a long time ago.
  14. even easier is to drive a screwdriver through it and use this to wind it off(but dont forget that the oil might drip out)
  15. Noah I had exactly the same problem with my soundproofing from TW.I am screwing it back on with stainless steel screws and washers as we speak!
  16. hope i'm not too late to add to this..... we have had an Airtop 2000 in our 35 ft narrowboat for about 18 months, been through 2 winters without problems so far.no noise or vibration,in fact the only noise we notice is the fan that blows the warm air around the pipes in the boat.it was fitted with minimum disruption and the main reason we chose this system was the limited space on board.it fits easily in the engine ole and is easy to get to,although we havent had to yet!
  17. Sorry to quibble with your spelling but I always thought it was 'shoogle'.....?
  18. what with the 10 gallons of water that ends up in our bilges every time it rains hard (through the gaps in the cruiser deck boards) i cant get too worked up about whether my stern gland lewaks a bit !!!

  21. you could try dri-wash. it is easy to apply gives a good shine takes off oxide etc but isnt cheap. try the web site where you can buy online....just google driwash.
  22. WE CHOSE A WEBASTO AIRTOP BLOWN AIR HEATER AS IT TAKES UP HARDLY ANY SPACE .SO FAR (18MONTHS ) IT HAS BEEN TROUBLE FREE AND HEATS THE BOAT WELL(THE CABIN IS ABOUT20 FT LONG)
  23. not if you only open the paddle gate on the same side as the boat(which opens the opposite paddle and keweps the boat tucked into the same side) and you tie up with the centre rope as well for good measure
  24. great idea for a weekend of moneymaking !
