Hiring a boat on the River Lea in Hackney

Ok, not the most usual holiday location I know, but an old friend of mine has been commissioned to film and photograph on and around the River Lea in the Hackney area. He is looking at ways of getting a boat that can be used by film crew etc . Anyone on this forum currently in that part of the world (Lady Muck?) got any ideas. This is a link to the people involved - click

He says: I'm on the lookout for a craft for a rental, to use as a photographic/filming vessel any time after mid feb for a week or two, heres a link to the project site:

or, if thats an unlikely scenario, maybe a longer let so I can learn the ways of the watermen and immerse myself a bit more, like up to my neck.....

anything considered..

All ideas gratefully received and I will pass them on.

Thanks. Sadly their website states that as of next year they are not doing weekly hire any more, only day hire. I've passed on a link to their website though.

There is a hire operation about to get going from Limehouse, but I'm not sure they'll have started by then

Perhaps a back hander to one of the informal moorers at Hackney Marshes ;)

Still worth a shot, they may not have flogged their fleet yet!

has he considered contacting any of the community boats? They're quiet that time of year, they might appreciate the revenue.

These ones are all local

http://www.canalboat.org.uk/ <----these do hire

http://www.thepiratecastle.org/ <---special plug for this for obvious reasons

Otherwise I dunno - if he wants to do a ''private'' hire tell him to run a mile from anyone called John Driver and Eddy Rayner - they/he is still causing chaos in London.
